Where are Scientific & Technological Inventions Taking Us to? What More Will be Discovered in the Future?

Motivation

A visit (back in time) to our ancestors

If it would be possible to visit the past times in which our ancient ancestors existed and inform them about the wonderful inventions and discoveries of the present times or age, we might be looked upon as powerful magicians—or as magicians of the ancient gods. Also, if our ancient ancestors were able to visit the present-day times, they might feel the same way.

Until the day mankind successfully produces and operates a time machine (which has been the dream of many fictionists, and the goal of many scientists), the concept of a “time machine” will remain among the impossible feats that many people believe mankind “will never be able to achieve”—as they always say. Remember the story about the Tower of Babel, right? From GOD’s response, almost everyone will believe that people can achieve whatever they set their hearts on.

The awe-inspiring paths of science

Although it’s not yet possible to travel back to the dark ages of our ancestors, we can still take a look at history and see the awesome scientific progression of science from the past to the present: now jet planes soar in the skies at will; rockets explore part of our solar system (The Milky Way), the moon and other planets; scanners give clear views of the inner part of the living body, and mobile phones keep us in contact with anyone in the world.

But this seems to be just the beginning: science is not static; its impact is still multiplying all around us

If it were possible to take count of the number of scientific articles that have been published, we’ll be shocked by the number of times the quantity of scientific information is multiplying every decade or so.

The discovery of new knowledge, innovations, and inventions are modifying and changing all the political, economic, industrial, and social platforms; also, it is either overturning old, reverenced, and widely-held beliefs, or making other ones obsolete.

Where is this voyage of science & technology taking us to? What more will we be able to discover in the future?

Can we picture what the world would look like in the years 2500, 2600, or so? By the year 2500, scientific and technological developments could have risen to such a level that people might think that mankind’s destiny is to become little controllers of the universe—little masters of the universe.

It is widely believed that ancient magicians and the ancient gods of past ages used magical tools, potions, and unknown spells to do great deeds and wonders; in the present and future ages, science and technology will use the faith and science behind AI (artificial intelligence), computers, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and most of all, the quantum theory, which is believed to be the foundation behind earlier technologies.

By the year 2500, will we be able to control the movement and positions of objects with the invisible power of our minds? Will electronics, phones, and computers be able to read our thoughts and inner commands, and do what we want without any need to touch them?

With the advanced knowledge of biotechnology and medicine, will mankind be able to strengthen people’s bodies and extend their life spans? Will mankind be able to create forms of life that have never appeared on Earth before?

Unlike prophet Elijah and some of the ancient gods who were believed to have ridden on fiery chariots, will mankind be able to soar the skies effortlessly in vehicles that don’t require the use of fuel? Will mankind be able to send space ships to nearby and distant planets, solar systems, and galaxies?

Will mankind be able to discover and interact with other more intelligent forms of life that live outside our galaxy?

Possibilities abound because of past & present planted seeds of technology

Although it looks bleak and hopeless for many scientific dreams to turn into reality, the seeds of technology that have been planted support the possibility that anything imagined can be achieved—just anything. Faith, modern science, and technology—not chanting and incantations—could give mankind the power to achieve anything.

But, once again, where are all these scientific & technological advancements leading us to?

Are they leading us to hell, heaven, or anything in between? What will be the final termination point of this amazing, unending, and unpredictable voyage of science and technology?

What will be the greatest and most unsurpassable transition in history?

What will mark the most distinct departure from past and present civilizations?

What is the limit that mankind won’t be able to go beyond?

Unless mankind succumbs to the evil forces of selfishness, stupidity, and chaos—just like it plays around with nuclear energy—the greatest deeds that can be achieved are certainly inevitable.

    I also think the ancients could show us a thing or two. We have a lot of fancy toys, but they were moving thousand-ton blocks around like they were feathers.

  5. This article that you published has sent me to a thinking room,with my thinking hat.So thank you.
    I believe that the ancient or our ancestors have so many things to offer us.We surely have the science and technology.But we still have no solution for dementia/Alzhemier disease.
    We have people that went to the moon,have so many ways of keeping people alive but we still cannot create a human being.
    But I will say kudos to modernization ,scientific discoveries,and technology.Life expectancy is much higher.
    I don’t want the life of our ancestors.This is better, you just have to make the best out of it.All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I understand many of the things you highlighted and still want us to have hope because ages ago, especially during the era of our ancestors, many diseases had no cure, and many beneficial discoveries were nowhere near to be found; but today, even though every problem hasn’t been solved, or every important technology hasn’t been discovered, I think mankind is on a very good track, and should continue to be hopeful that more diseases will be cured, etc, etc. As per creating a human being, I dont have anything to say; we should just keep watching. Anything is possible.

I will start with what you ended, the nuclear energy and I will add all kind of weapons, if this force didn’t take over as it’s doing now in some areas to the extent that some countries are still retarded because of wars despite all the technology next door, then there’s no limit of what we can achieve, years ago we couldn’t imagine what’s like to have smart phones for an example even if it was easy to predict, but experiencing is always different, and yes why not interacting with intelligent forms from another galaxy, strengthen people’s bodies and extend their life spans…and many many possibilities, but I insist that good should take over because this power is a double-edged sword, and it can hurt us if we misuse it

    1. Thanks for your very thoughtful comment. In fact, irrespective of how awesome certain scientific feats look—and they do—I’ve always harbored the feeling that too much technological advancement—like too much of everything on Earth—could be bad and bring mankind to doom if we are not careful with them.

      Look at reports of the negative effect coal and fossil fuels have been having on climate. If we are not careful with nuclear weapons, in particular, the Earth and its great achievements could be decimated, destroyed and burnt up within a few seconds; GOD forbid, but if this happens, and if there are any survivors at all, mankind will have to start all over by going back to the stone age, or something worse.

                1. There are certain blogs I visit after a while because of the value they add to my motivation and emotions; It’s actually worthwhile to visit them and check for updates, especially when no updates have been seen on the timeline for a while.

    1. Truly, mankind has always been limited, but at the same time, mankind has been progressing at an astonishing rate. It might be impossible to manipulate time, but mankind (whom God has given dominion over the Earth) might be able to manipulate so many other things.

  8. After a while we might realize that life was better before many of these things were invented. But tend to overdo things, we don’t know how to be balanced… eg…children are not doing as well in schools because of cell phones

Your comment mimics what I’ve been asking some people regarding the lack of concentration of this generation of students who can’t concentrate on their studies because of cell phones and other technologies. The truth is that science & technology is a double-edged sword that has helped to kill/eradicate many of our problems, but it could also end up killing us and our environment as well.

    No matter how doubtful, or even unimaginable all the things you mentioned about 2500 might seem to us, the way things has changed between 1538 and 2019 would clear our doubts.

    I hope scientists and technologists are blessed with more wisdom and mind to keep exploring and manifesting everything possible to help mankind in living better lives.
    I don’t know about where it will lead to in the end, but we cannot hands up and give up. But what if this is what we’re supposed and expected to do? After all, they say our ancient ancestors didn’t live the right way until certain things were introduced to them allowing their repentance.

        I mean God created the world, created us dwell in it, gives us many blessings that would enable do great things to support our living, and we should evolve and establish everything we can with those blessing, but we shouldn’t recreate the world itself. Although that’s what we literally do. But not to recreate the world in the actual sense. I’m sorry I don’t know how to put it😀😀

I agree 100% that the advancements in science and technology, which are mainly material things, have made us lost a bit, if not more, of our humanity and that spiritual rawness which is our real and eternal nature. if our humanity was as high as actually loving our neighbors as ourselves, then there won’t be so much wickedness, envy, hatred, jealousy, etc.; there would mainly or totally be giving and helping

  20. This is a powerful and thought-provoking post. It actually makes us think about an inquiry Dan Brown posed in his 2017 Langdon novel, Origin. He wondered whether science and technology will grow to such a point that it unifies the world instead of divides it. We go one step further. Scientific and technological advance will enhance the world, but only if society progresses it and uses it wisely and responsibly. Currently, the aspects most valuable and sci-fi-like are available only to those in the 1%. How can society successfully progress technology in away that’s both equitable and responsible?
