We Progress by Being Dissatisfied with Our Current Level of Progress

Wouldn’t you like to make more progress? If yes, then you have to always be dissatisfied with your current level of progress in life, no matter how high or low it is. To make the utmost use of dissatisfaction over your current level of progress, never be satisfied with your current achievements, and always assume or that your current level of progress can rise higher than it is.

Coupled with satisfaction, procrastination also impedes or halts progress. A popular adage says, “Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today”. This adage is great advice against procrastination. Some people don’t progress because they postpone things which they should be doing at the moment. The urge to postpone any important thing will hardly arise if we are highly dissatisfied with our current level of progress.

We prepare a recipe for disaster by putting things off until tomorrow when they can be easily done today. By making a habit of pushing things into the future, we fail, and may even fail many times over! Hence, we need to discipline ourselves and be more demanding of ourselves in order to be dissatisfied enough to get things done on time.

Dissatisfaction can help avoid procrastination

If you are always satisfied with your current achievements in life, then it would be easy to become complacent and a procrastinator. But if you’re always dissatisfied with your current level of progress, then you will develop a drive that can compel you to consistently look for ways to move forward and seek new things to achieve.

As long as you continue to believe in yourself and remain dissatisfied enough to strive for more accomplishments, then there would be no end in sight for your level of progress, and greater achievements and success would likely become your permanent companion. Only those individuals who are never satisfied with their current level make consistent progress in life.

Never assume that you’ve achieved everything; there’s always room to progress higher

The extent of your possibilities has no limits and can continue to expand in proportion to the new things you are willing to explore. Therefore, don’t rest on your laurels and never assume that you’ve attained perfection or reached the highest level of progress. If you continue working hard to expand your horizons, there would be no limits to your rising level of progress.

On the other hand, if you assume that you’ve achieved everything, idleness will creep in instead of progress, and you may end up robbing yourself of more blessings and higher levels of progress or achievements. Maintain a strong work ethic and continue moving forward in order to release more of your potentials, talents, and abilities from the spiritual world into this physical world.

Without Knowledge or Preparation, Zeal Could Lead to Failure

One of the reasons why some zealous or enthusiastic people fail to fulfil their calling is because they lack knowledge or preparation. Dr. James Dobson once said: “Enthusiasm is no substitute for preparation”. Proverbs 19: 2 (NIV, The Christian Bible) states: “It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way”.

Knowledge and preparation, which are important components in the formula for success, are often overlooked by some people, especially when they attempt to get overnight results. As a result, many people fail due to lack of knowledge or preparation.

To be Called is not Enough; Become Your Calling

Whichever area of aspect of life you feel that your calling lies, you have to spend time to acquire knowledge about it in order to become prepared and succeed; therefore, you may have to go to the library, read books, search the Internet, study under a teacher or mentor, and put in a little or lot effort to get much information about the subject of your interest.

Acquiring thorough knowledge about a subject or discipline will get you prepared and help you avoid failure

Many people want quick and cheap success without putting in work to prepare themselves. You will save yourself a ton of precious time and effort and make it easier to progress and achieve success if you gather as much knowledge as possible.

But if you lack knowledge and aren’t prepared to bend down and get knowledge about a subject, you will likely stumble around most of the time and constantly make mistakes, especially costly ones.

Consider the lives of many successful people whose life calling directed them to become medical doctors, pilots, lawyers, sportspeople, etc. They had to use up a lot of hours, days, months and years to train hard, study hard, or write many examinations.

The more time you spend acquiring knowledge and preparing for your calling, the more success you will experience

A lot of unnecessary challenges and heartaches will be avoided if you make up your mind to put in work or work hard and prepare yourself for whatever life endeavor you desire to engage in.

It’s about time you add knowledge and preparation to your zeal or enthusiasm and make it easier to succeed as you create your own destiny. Take your destiny into your own hands, even if it means avoiding too much leisure, teaching yourself, working as hard as you can, and doing the utmost to gain success.

To follow your life calling or achieve success can be challenging; however, you won’t be able to succeed without getting rid of challenges, barriers, and obstacles which can be eliminated if you acquire thorough knowledge and get prepared for the demands of your calling.

Trusting in GOD May Require Taking Risks, but it Conquers the Unknown

Sometimes, we don’t carry out our plans and realize our dreams because fear paralyzes us and makes us not take risks. Most people avoid any path that would require them to take risks. Usually, we avoid taking risks because want to feel comfortable and be a hundred percent sure that everything would go according to our own “logical” plans.

But things don’t always work according to “logical” plans, even when we feel comfortable and are a hundred percent sure that they would work out as planned. This is one of the main reasons why we need to always trust in GOD or have faith in His power which created and controls everything that is visible and invisible.

Trusting or having faith in GOD may sometimes require us to take risks because we aren’t always able to see as far and wide as GOD sees; nevertheless, trusting in GOD or having faith in Him is a positive step that surely brings great results at the end of the day.

Most people are scared of taking a leap of faith and trusting in GOD, but trusting in GOD conquers the unknown

It’s unfortunate that for various reasons most people are scared of putting their trust in GOD. And although it is true that from a human perspective, having faith in GOD sometimes involves a certain degree of risk, it is equally true that trusting in GOD’s plan and timing is a wise decision that can help us conquer the unknown.

Any risk associated with having faith or trusting in GOD is not a risk; it is an added advantage

History and faith both inform us that GOD works wonders and uses risks, challenges, and problems to achieve great results. Therefore, even if you are facing a situation that compels you to take a “safe” route, remember that it is only GOD Who can give a 100% guarantee that a safe route is not risky; He is the only one Who can guarantee that a safe route is actually safe and will lead to the desired destination.

Trusting in GOD requires that we live according to His laws

We must abide by GOD’s laws all the time, not only when we are trusting in Him for something. And we must live a righteous lifestyle according to GOD’s expectations, not according to the world’s expectations which are almost always different from GOD’s expectations.

It is understandable that because we are human, we are imperfect and will likely make mistakes, whether we take risks or not; however, living a righteous life will guard us against permanent failure. Proverbs 24: 16 (The Christian Bible) states: “For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity”.

Therefore, regardless of whether the righteous take risks or don’t take risks, their trust in GOD will always attract His guidance and ensure that they are taken up from the ground, no matter how many times they fall.

On the other hand, although it the unrighteous may continue getting what they want for long stretches of time, they will eventually be brought down by calamity because GOD’s laws will catch up with them at the end of the day.

Don’t be afraid of taking risks and making mistakes; our missteps and failures are temporary

Trust in GOD and always remember that whenever you fall down, GOD will always raise you up. Therefore don’t be afraid of taking risks and making mistakes; always put your trust in GOD and His timing which is always on time.

Be ready to take risks when certain opportunities come, and never ever forget that your faith or trust in GOD is a step that will enable you to conquer the unknown. Trusting in GOD can turn an unfavorable today into an advantageous tomorrow, and turn an awful today into a happy tomorrow.

Trust in GOD by fixing your eyes on what is unseen, not on what is seen

Hebrews 11: 1 (The Christian Bible) states: “…without faith it is impossible to please GOD; for anyone who comes to GOD must believe that He exists…”; and 2nd Corinthians 4: 18 (The Christian Bible) states: “…look not on the things that are seen, but on the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are temporary, but the things that are unseen are eternal”.

These two scriptures encourage us to have faith or put our trust in GOD, not in man and material things which are temporal; the second scripture encourages us to believe that the desires and things we cannot see now, are permanently there for us and can be achieved in the future.

The GOD Whom we trust is invisible and almighty and all the seen and unseen things are in His hands. Therefore put your full trust in Him and do what is in your power to do, whether it involves taking risks or not taking risks; thereafter, leave your best efforts in GOD’s hands and let Him dictate the outcome.

The Almighty GOD Sees Your Situation; He Knows what You Don’t Know

No matter how many times you have failed despite the numerous attempts you’ve made to succeed, and no matter where you come from or what your discouraging situation is, you still have a chance to succeed because the Almighty GOD and Heavenly Father holds the key to your future.

So, despite your predicaments, if you really have faith or belief in the Almighty GOD, then you still have quite enough to realize your dreams! Apart from you and Him, nobody else can completely alter your destiny or future, and no one else can thwart the purpose he had designed for you before you were born.

It is by the hand of the Almighty GOD that many people—despite their upbringing and unfortunate circumstance—have had wonderful rags-to-riches stories imprinted upon the memory of mankind and world history; yours could just be another one that would be added in the future if you believe that He has the best plans for you.

Small or pathetic beginnings should not discourage us

It’s possible that because you are parentless, lack resources, come from an unfavorable country, etc., you have utter disbelief about how the Almighty GOD would make your dreams come to pass.

But, note that the Almighty GOD knows what you don’t know: His ways are different from yours and ours; for ages, He has been showing mankind that big achievements come from small or pathetic beginnings.

The Almighty GOD is fond of guiding people from little positions to greater or greater ones—even up to the greatest ones! Therefore, always remember that He is in control of every situation and everything at any point in your life, and if we put our little belief in Him today, He will work wonders with it and in our lives tomorrow.

Don’t despise small beginnings or situations

For everything that exists started from being a small entity; it is after this pattern that the power of the Almighty GOD has been expressing itself mightily and beyond human understanding.

It is through the process of growing from small to big or great, that His power shows itself more clearly, especially in pathetic situations. If anyone is actually living a righteous life in the eyes of the Almighty GOD, then failure wouldn’t depend on negative situations or the absence of some things; it would only depend on disbelief or lack of faith in Him.

For this reason, whenever we face problems, we should believe that the Almighty GOD always has solutions to our problems, and He can provide us with everything we need to tackle our problems and reach our destiny.

It is a huge plus to realize that the Almighty GOD knows what we don’t know. It is also a huge plus to realize that our belief in the Almighty GOD, and the right attitude about our small, unfavorable, or pathetic situations will turn our minus into a big plus. But we need to be in control of our emotions by trusting the Almighty GOD!

Many Opportunities for Success will Always Come into Your Life

Regardless of your circumstance or station in life, opportunities for success will always come during many occasions in your life; and if you are prepared, success will strike a chord between the best version of yourself and the opportunities that life will send your way.

Therefore, never ever give up and consistently working on yourself so you can be at your best. Always work on making yourself better so that there will be a good chance for your opportunities to meet perfectly with your best preparation and give you success.

Whenever our best preparations meet the expectations of our opportunities for success, we will be ready to achieve success. Life and GOD are fair to all people, regardless of their religion, race, sex, tribe, or social status, etc. With our expectations, great preparations, and hard work, we will always get opportunities to utilize, no matter how rough and tough life may be.

Ecclesiastes 9: 11 of The Christian Bible states: “The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all”.

So, always remember that when it comes to sharing opportunities for success, GOD is faithful to His principles of Life: each individual will be given many opportunities for success during their lifetime; as a result, your big break can come at any moment! Therefore, always work on improving yourself or being at your best, and never lose hope.

To use your opportunities for success, you may have to leave or move away from your comfort zone

In many instances, you may have to leave or move away from your comfort zone and get into other terrains where opportunities for success will be waiting for you to exploit them in order to achieve success.

It’s quite unfortunate that people are usually skeptical or afraid of leaving or moving away from their comfort zone to seize an opportunity. Why? Because they don’t know exactly what is waiting for them on the other side.

Later, along the way, they blame Life, GOD, or bad luck when they fail to grasp a great opportunity that only required them to move away from their comfort zone or change their lifestyle in order to achieve success.

For many of us to achieve success, we may not only have to move away from our comfort zone into unfamiliar territory, but we may also have to accept a new way of life or change our attitudes or mentality about certain aspects of life.

If we aren’t careful, our refusal to change could cost us our opportunities for success

One big message that life keeps echoing is this: we have to change something if what we’ve been doing over a considerable or long time hasn’t been working: if we’ve had little or no results to show for our efforts, then it won’t be wise to continue doing what we’ve always been doing and expect great results.

In order to get new and more positive outcomes, we actually have to try something else or start doing new things. If we can’t change or move away from our comfort zone, then we will likely not be ready to take hold of the opportunities for success that life has in store for us.

Don’t let excess relaxation, apathy, or lack of self-growth cause you to miss opportunities for success

Opportunities for success go hand in hand with destiny. Some individuals have had opportunities to succeed, but because they relaxed too much or decided to stop growing career-wise or in other regards, they ended up losing the opportunities they came across.

Imagine how your destiny would be thwarted if a good opportunity arises and you are invited to another town, but you refuse to go even though your destiny is waiting there for you. The opportunity could be a new business proposition or lead you to a future spouse or anything that is valuable and can change your life for good.

Many successful people wouldn’t have achieved great success if they had refused to change—if they had decided to remain adamant and stay in their comfort zones. New opportunities for success are paths to a whole new world and destiny out there; therefore, we need to be pliable, alert, and serious when we come across new opportunities.

It’s so unfortunate that when opportunities come, many people aren’t prepared; that’s one of the reasons why people end up blaming themselves by saying: “if only I had accepted that suggestion or proposal”, “if only I had agreed to relocate”, “if only I had made contact earlier”, etc.

Don’t let new opportunities for success meet you unprepared! Be prepared before time so that you can seize new opportunities for success when they come your way!

Your Life is Worth More than the Money & Things You Own

Although money and material possessions are important, each person’s life is worth much more than money. If we don’t use money in ways that would serve GOD’s purposes and our lives, then it can corrupt and debase us. Therefore, we need to have the right motives when it comes to accumulating money, riches, or wealth.

If our trust is only in the money and material things we possess—like cars, houses, swimming pools, industries, inventions, etc.—then the level of our spirituality and trust in GOD is likely pathetic or in vain, and shows that we tend to believe that life depends mainly on money.

Our physical bodies are limited to this world and are subject to time which is a child of eternity. Unlike our physical bodies and earthly possessions, our spirits or spiritual bodies belong to eternity and are thus eternal like our Creator; for this reason, on the eternal scale our lives have much more value than money and material possessions.

Although it’s obvious that we can justify why we need money and many of the things we clamour for in life, our lives are worth more than money. The truth is that your life is worth more than the things you own; money and material possessions are just items that make life easier.

If we assess or evaluate the worth or value of our lives by the things we own, then we have no more hope than people who don’t believe in GOD, eternity, or the continuation of life after death (exit from this world).

No matter how wealthy we are, we should learn to value our lives without wealth

If we can for once search our souls and imagine ourselves without cars, without storey buildings, and without the most fascinating things in the world, would we feel miserable? If we would, then it’s obvious that we have failed the test of GOD and His eternity.

If we allow our life’s value to be consumed by the belief that money is more than life, then it’s evident enough that we are endeared by the love of money which has been the root of many kinds of evil. If your life’s value and composure depends on outward visible things, then instead of being really free, you are enslaved. This is likely one of the reasons why Jesus Christ told (read Matthew 19: 21 of the Christian Bible) the rich young man to sell all his possessions.

The wealthy young man failed the test of GOD and eternity because he loved his wealth or riches dearly and couldn’t imagine that his life would have value without money; he couldn’t imagine life without his wealth or riches which were “great”. It is not surprising why Jesus Christ later told his disciples that “it will be difficult for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of GOD”.

You can’t really pass the test of GOD and eternity until your happiness doesn’t depend on money and material things

Overwhelming dependence on and pursuit of money and material things are very detrimental to our journey towards the Kingdom of GOD and eternity. If our happiness is hinged on how much money we have, or the material things we possess, then we are enslaved by the love of earthly things.

Your being or spirit passes the test of GOD and gets real beauty and freedom when it is detached from complete dependence on money and material things. It has to be noted that it’s not everyone who is wealthy or rich that is enslaved by money; at times, enslavement by money happens the other way round: some poor people who worry about money, are enslaved by it, and could be addicted to it.

We are destined to be masters of money, not servants of money

From Jesus Christ’s interaction with the rich young man, it can be inferred that the main problem that rich people have is that they love, depend on, or trust in their riches more than they trust in GOD; so they feel that life completely depends on money which is just a piece of paper or metal.

Money is just an instrument that we have to use to meet our material needs and accomplish GOD’s purposes on Earth; therefore, GOD designed us to be masters of money. But if we allow ourselves to be slaves of money—or allow money to be our master—then certain fruits will likely grow in our lives: greed, envy, pride, dishonesty, selfishness, etc.

Our spirit and being mustn’t rely on money. I personally believe this is what the founding fathers of America had in mind when they unanimously agreed to put the words “In GOD we trust” on the US dollar: they believed that instead of putting trust in the currency or piece of paper called “dollar”, people should put their trust in GOD.

Unfortunately, over decades or hundreds of years, people have been trusting in dollars and currencies more than in GOD; they have been risking their lives because of currencies, killing people because of currencies, blackmailing people because of currencies, and doing all sorts of evil deeds because of currencies.

We shouldn’t allow ourselves to be controlled by money and material things to the point that we lose our true freedom that lies in following the laws of the Kingdom of GOD which depend on spiritual values and qualities that we will have to live by in eternity, after our lives on Earth are over.

What it Really Takes to be a Blogger

Although it’s quite true that it takes passion to be a blogger; from experience, I would say it takes determination to “really” be a blogger. Determination will be required, day in and day out, or week in and week out, or year in and year out, or whatever the case may be!

No matter the amount of passion you have, without determination you may give up whenever you experience a slump or “writer’s block”—a condition in which, for whatever reason, a blogger is not just able to be creative or motivated enough to write or blog posts for a period of time or indefinitely.

The business of being a blogger, through and through, is all about determination which is the quality or ability to be determined to do or achieve something. Determination is about having a considerable or high degree of firmness in regard to your purpose or what you want to achieve.

Even if you have outstanding talent and passion, without having enough determination to really work, it will be difficult for you to achieve success. Talent is only a starting point for success; but while working on your talent, determination is what you will need to keep you going even if you experience other challenges besides a slump or writer’s block.

Determination is what it takes to succeed in the business of blogging and any other endeavour

To what degree are you willing to be determined? If you lack determination, will you be willing enough to get a good amount of determination? Like writing, blogging is also a noble calling; but, blogging too is not so easy!

You need to make up your mind and decide: no matter the difficulty that may come your way, you will be determined enough to move forward or, at least, look for a way to move forward.

And like most things in life which are worth hustling for, when it comes to being a blogger, there are times when you just have to push some determination into your fingers, your brain, and your whole being!

When people say they want to be a blogger, don’t believe them until you see them actually walking the walk that real bloggers walk. Walking the walk requires having determination, even when, for whatever reason, you don’t feel like blogging!

If blogging is your dream, are you ready to do what it takes to be a blogger? Are you determined enough to blog, or write, or force some determination into your fingers, brain, and whole being so that you can really be the blogger you want to be?

You want what it takes to be a blogger? Learn to get tough and stick through

Although blogging takes time and isn’t easy, it will be worth your time and effort if you really love it. Anything that requires determination is not for the faint-hearted. And anything that requires determination will require you to “hang in there” while you are creating a brand that resonates.

Yes, people need your voice and art, whether you realize it or not. And though you might not have all the followers, comments, or appreciation that you want at the moment, you don’t have to be discouraged or ever lose determination.

If you really love blogging, don’t allow a slump, writer’s block, or any feeling to keep you permanently away from blogging. This sounds easier than stated, but you can do it. Your blogging journey may experience a lot of difficulty, barrier, and struggle, but it’s okay, as long as you remain determined, persevere, keep going, and don’t give up!

The Best Way to Brand Yourself is to Be Yourself

Each person’s reputation or brand originates from the attributes, skills or talents they exhibit or radiate over a considerable period of time. A brand is who you are and the parts of yourself or your identity that people remember—the part of yourself that has been revealed to your audience.

Every person has a brand. If you’re a writer or blogger, you brand yourself by influencing what people think of you through the writing or content you publish, and the impression you make on your audience.

Whether or not you brand yourself intentionally, whatever you exhibit or produce over time will end up branding you. As the popular saying goes, “what goes around, comes around”.

When it comes to branding, just be yourself

But don’t just be yourself in a lazy or indolent and spiritless manner. As best as you possibly can, be yourself and brand yourself in an intentional, purposeful, and good way. Don’t trick your audience into believing something that’s not true; if you do, time will find you out and expose you.

On the other hand, if you brand yourself by being yourself in the right way, your audience will appreciate you because of your consistency in giving them unique ways to think, through everything you exhibit or content you publish.

You have a choice when branding yourself; don’t waste it and attract a bad reputation

No matter your specialty and whether you brand yourself online or offline, you have a chance to make yourself memorable; not necessarily to be popular, but to stand tall and stand out from the crowd of look-alikes. But standing tall and standing out won’t happen until you work on it, intentionally and purposefully.

Before you put each product, stuff, or content out there in public, weigh the pros and cons that could go with it because once you let it out, it will be difficult to change it or change the impression your audience would have about it, and possibly have about you in particular!

Branding takes time; it may require you to give yourself a lot of grace and room to fail and adjust. When branding yourself, don’t stick with something that obviously doesn’t work, even if it’s the first idea that comes to your mind.

Never forget that the first idea won’t always be the best idea to finally stick with; in addition, the products or exhibits that usually work consist of a combination of passion and personality.

How to brand yourself and draw attention to your brand

Be resourceful to people. Use your platform to dish out favors and help people in any way—even the smallest ways possible—especially in the present-day world which is filled with so much selfishness or stinginess.

Have the best interest of people at the back of your mind, and practice giving. Always remember: “give and it shall be given unto you…and running over shall men give into your bosom”. As you continue to give something valuable, you will continue to build trust; with trust comes more opportunities to share your product and brand yourself.

People are often caught off-guard by generosity which they don’t usually see coming; that’s why they cluster around any brand that is generous and has something to offer in significant ways, no matter how small.

Brand yourself by helping people; in due time, any help you give will be reciprocated.

The Truth about Your Talent—What People May Never Tell You

Many successful people actually put in many hours of hard work before they achieved their dreams; regardless of whether they were sportspeople, scientists, writers, or whatever, they didn’t succeed and make a name for themselves overnight; they consistently put in many hours of hard work.

Successful people have one talent or another—or many talents—and their success makes their achievements look easy. Like every other person, you also have at least one talent or another; and although your talent matters, what matters the most is what you do with your talent—the impact you make with it over a considerable, long, or longer period of time!

The truth about your talent is that your talent alone cannot make a successful career for you; you must apply your talent consistently, over and over; in fact, talent is only a starting point for success; you’ve got to keep working your talent.

The truth about talent is that talent alone is not enough to succeed

Of course, talent is important; but talent alone doesn’t make a blogger, writer, footballer, basketballer, or any type of career. Talent must be applied together with consistent work—maybe even hard work—and possible payment of dues in one form or another!

If you’re going to succeed with your talent, then you have to learn how to work, or work hard or harder, and have a thick skin. To be more than talented enough, you may have to learn how to get dirty and exhibit many characteristics, and be many things.

Applying your talent by working hard usually requires considerable or much effort; your school teacher might have never told you/may never tell you this in college. Most people wouldn’t want to tell you some truths about talent because if you know how difficult it could be to apply it at times, you might never start a career in the first place. You’d actually quit before starting!

Some important truths about talent

1. Your talent matters; you better appreciate it and embrace or love it wholeheartedly.

2. It’s not enough to be talented. You have to be good or great at applying your talent, probably for a considerable, long, or longer period of time.

3. Applying talent could be harder than you think, especially over considerable, long, or even longer periods of time.

4. You don’t have to ever give up on your talent. Always persevere with it, no matter the challenges or obstacles you may face when applying it over a considerable, long, or even longer period of time.

5. Most people don’t care about your talent; they only care about themselves and how well you can apply your talent to help people. In fact, most people won’t care about your talent until you’ve actually used it to help other people.

6. Your talent might not have an opportunity to achieve success and make you popular until it is given a platform or receives help from other people. In fact, each person’s success story is actually the success story of joint effort from various people.

7. Applying your talent isn’t as important as applying your talent in the right way, especially to the right type of people whom it can impact the most.

Conclusion

Now that you’ve known some important truths about your talent, consider this article as a wake-up call to be mindful about how you use your talent; be smart when applying it. Don’t wait to be pushed or given permission to use your talent; consistently apply it, and be creative with it.

The Lesson People Usually Don’t Want to Learn: We Learn from Failure

Whenever you fail along the path to your dreams, it’s not all over; instead of giving up, continue from where you failed, or start all over again! If you don’t, then all you’ll be doing is waiting—and you might wait forever and never get anywhere close to fulfilling your dreams.

There is a trend among people, especially the young ones of this generation who think that every desire has to materialize as fast as they wish: they don’t want to come to the realization that it’s the destiny of human beings to learn from failure, collectively and individually.

Yes, we can actually learn from failure, and there’s no limit to the valuable lessons we can learn from failure of any kind. Failure is dangerous territory, especially when it knocks down and hijacks people’s creativity, productivity, or destiny.

Each time you fail, ask yourself: what lesson can I learn from my failure?

As you move through life in the hunt for success, you will eventually find it if you learn from failure each time you fall. In some areas of life, you’ll have to pull yourself together and move through fear; this is one major lesson almost everybody hates to learn.

Never ever forget that the fear of failure is almost always scarier than the success or dream you are chasing. Yes, there may likely be rejection and pain, but the greatest failure will occur when you give up after failing. Therefore, it’s best to look for positives whenever you fail.

What you can learn from failure is that whenever you fail, you don’t really fail; you learn

Whenever you fail, you can draw one or more lessons from it and find new ways to move towards your goal, and tackle future challenges which will likely come your way.

Thomas Edison succeeded in making a great invention after conducting the 1000th experiment; he experienced failure in the preceding 999 experiments.

You can only succeed in the same vein if you learn lessons from your failures—without concentrating on your failures—and use the lessons to your advantage in the future.

If you fall in love with learning lessons from your failures, you will eventually find out that the lessons from your failures will help you achieve the success you are looking for. Failures and the lessons from failures won’t be able to do otherwise!

The value that’s inherent in the lessons from failure propels people to success; if you treat the lessons like adorable friends, you will be able to build a lasting foundation for the future, even after achieving success.

How to Focus on Writing in this Age of Excess Distractions & Noise

How can you focus on writing or the writing process, especially in an age that is characterized by more distractions and noise than any other period in recorded history?

Surely, you may allow some distractions and noise, but anything in excess could cause delays, prevent you from focussing on the writing process, and even kill your dreams or career.

Therefore, it’s advisable to cut out excess distractions and noise so that you can be in a good position to focus on writing and creating the best content for your book or blog.

The impact of interruptions from social media

In today’s world, it’s quite difficult to focus on writing because distractions and noise abound and there are uncountable advertising messages that inundate us when we are both online and offline every day.

As a result of the distractions, noise, and messages, most people are usually agitated and their lives are full of interruptions that make them less focused on fulfilling their dreams.

Some sources state that the average person’s attention span is less than nineteen seconds, while others state that it’s not more than 3 minutes; regardless of its duration, the average person’s attention span is likely affected by distractions.

If too much attention has been paid to social media, there would always be a temptation and tendency to listen to music, watch YouTube, check emails, and open and switch between many browser tabs on a regular basis.

Every day, many talented and ambitious people struggle physically and mentally with these distractions which work on them subconsciously; unfortunately, many people aren’t able to consciously control the distractions.

How to Focus on Writing: 2 things you need to do

1. When it’s time to write, focus on writing to the exclusion of everything else

You cannot be everywhere at the same time. It will be difficult to move at a pace that can attract good results if you’re creating new content and reacting to social media at the same time—you can’t do both; therefore, choose wisely.

If you choose wrongly, you would be procrastinating the real work you need to do, which is focussing on what really matters: what really matters is the writing process that can make it possible for you to fulfill your dreams.

2. Consistently cut out excess distractions & noise

Apart from yourself, nobody else can stop you from paying attention to social media distractions and noise, especially when you’re fully aware that you need to create time on a regular basis to write and move in the direction of your dreams and aspirations.

With regard to fulfilling any dream, you need to sacrifice something by paying a price; this price would be paid by cutting out excess distractions and noise so that you can have enough quality time and be able to focus on writing.

You’re fully aware of your limitations as a result of obvious social media distractions and noise. Therefore, it’s up to you to face them squarely, do a little soul-searching, and get to work by focussing on writing; if you don’t, then all you’ll be doing is waiting.

You Become Better at Writing after Writing each Post

How can you become a better writer if you don’t write—if you don’t practice writing—and make it easier for you to be unique and stick to your voice? Everyone can become a better writer by believing in their passion for writing and actually going ahead to do the work of writing regularly.

Each writer is unique, and each writer’s voice matters more than people may often realize. Check the reviews of good and popular books and blogs, and you will notice that audiences, followers, or subscribers rely on writers or bloggers for their individual and unique wisdom, insight, or perspective.

Your Writing is a Gift; the Time People Give to Read it is a Blessing

You can personally discover how to become a better writer if you devote time to writing; always find time to write about anything meaningful. If you repeat this practice and ritual, and do it for an appreciable length of time, you will start to create really good work, and gradually and eventually become a better writer.

Even if you become a better writer after taking the first leap towards becoming better, with practice, perseverance, and the passage of time, you can still become a much better writer, or be among the best writers.

Practice—which creates habits—makes perfect!

Discipline yourself and always find time to practice whatever it is that you are passionate about, and you’ll end up discovering a reality that all professionals in every field know: practice makes perfect! I would go ahead to state that practice creates habits and makes perfect!

Generally speaking, the main difference between professionals and amateurs is the number of hours or amount of practice each devoted to a particular craft. Professionals always look for ways to improve their craft and become better; they achieve this objective—to become better—by “practicing” or “learning by repetition”.

Becoming better or perfect at writing doesn’t come from thinking about writing; it comes from practicing—by doing the work or putting in work—creating habits, and developing a level of momentum that would make it easier to become better and much better, and even be among the best writers.

If you have resolved to become a better writer, then write today, write tomorrow, and write consistently thereafter

If possible, continue the practice of writing every day or almost every day—even when you have doubts and experience challenges—until writing becomes a habit that will permeate through you without any hassle.

If you practice or repeat any activity long enough, it will become a habit and easy to replicate because you can be able to do it without thinking. This is applicable to anything you have passion for, be it sports, politics, writing, etc.

While practicing writing, you may occasionally lose zeal or passion. However, if you continue writing consistently, especially long enough, you will be able to write effortlessly without losing zeal or passion; in addition, you will become comfortable with your voice!

This may take days, months, or even years; but if you keep on practicing the art of writing, you will eventually become a better writer, or even be among the best writers.

You’re a Blogger—Just Blog!

You are a blogger—just blog; he is a writer—he just writes; she is a musician—she just sings; they are presidents—they just preside over the affairs of their countries and organizations.

You are a tourist and blogger—just tour and blog; he is a basketballer and student—he just plays basketball and studies; she is a doctor and philanthropist—she just treats people and donates to charities; they are preachers and prophets—they just prophesy and preach.

Even if you are passionate about doing more than two things, like a number of people in the world are, then just go ahead and do them. Whatever your destiny is and you have passion for, just go for it, and with time you will become great at doing it because you will actually become it.

Blog for Passion, Not for Accolades—The Secret to Longevity in Blogging

Even after I started blogging, time after time, again and again, my passion for blogging had to always remind me that I am a blogger; so I just have to continue blogging. But, how much, or how often?

Well, I don’t have to ever give up: I have to be consistent over the course of my life, even if I can’t blog every day, week, or month. The word “consistent” would have more than one interpretation when a long period or lifetime of blogging is to be considered.

The main thing I have to always remember is that I just have to continue blogging. If you are passionate about blogging, just blog: if you are passionate about writing and blogging, just write and blog.

I am a blogger: I just have to blog!

I’m sure that all great bloggers had and still have these words constantly reverberating in their minds. Distractions, challenges, fame, money, and accolades weren’t able to deter them from doing the real work of writing and blogging.

Coupled with my passion for blogging is the inspiration I get from the blogs of great bloggers; both the passion and inspiration constantly remind me to “just blog”. So, I just blog, and each time I blog, I see each action gradually taking me higher and higher up the ladder.

Just blog instead of thinking or talking about it

Even though I’ve had breaks during my blogging career, I did my best to get accustomed to “just blogging” whenever I resumed from breaks: I write and blog which are the two hardest challenges most bloggers face around the world, especially if they don’t have sufficient passion.

Although most bloggers are euphoric about blogging, they don’t blog whenever they have a chance to just blog; and so they eventually give up, and their blogs dried out!

Maybe you’ve experienced this, or maybe you will soon experience it if you don’t just blog, especially when you have time and no distractions or serious challenges to stop you.

Ignite the blogging passion again: kill the excuses and continue writing!

It’s time to become a real blogger again by killing the excuses and start writing. Real blogging starts with the hands, not with the head. Take action, move your hands and get to work!

Writing and blogging is predominantly a mind game: you have to use your passion to trick or persuade yourself to act—write and blog—and become a writer or blogger.

If you can succeed in tricking and persuading yourself over a sufficient period of time, you will begin to believe that you can be consistent at writing and just blogging, even when there are challenges, or there isn’t enough time.

Initially, nobody was a writer and blogger: we all started somewhere from ground zero before we gradually became writers and bloggers.

To continue being a blogger, you just have to continue blogging. It might be difficult to do so, but it’s also as simple as that, especially if you are passionate about blogging.

They Didn’t Allow Their Past Determine Their Future—Neither Should You

Your purpose or calling in life is associated with your natural gift(s) or what you are passionate about. Regardless of the challenges or lack of success you might have had or still have, stay grounded and continue to believe that your inner unlimited potentials will eventually outshine all challenges.

If you can keep on having faith, it will only be a matter of time before your faith will create an urge in your spirit and move you in a certain direction that will guarantee success in the future.

We were not created without a grand purpose. Destiny has a dream for each person to succeed at a certain time in the future; destiny has a throne for each person to occupy, but we have to be careful about what we listen to, whom we listen to, and whom we share our dreams and aspirations with.

There will always be people and doubters out there to discourage and convince you to lose heart or become indifferent to your dreams, aspirations, and your hopes to succeed in the future.

Some shallow-minded people just don’t like the fact that other people have big aspirations; in fact, what other people want to achieve is not something that shallow-minded people would like to hear, entertain, or discuss!

Even if negative thoughts and doubters give reasons why you should forget about your dreams as a result of the negative circumstances that seem to be obstructing you from materializing them, don’t allow panic and doubt to upstage your faith and take hold of the dreams in your heart.

Destiny still has success in store for you. As long as you continue believing in a positive future, and don’t pull a plug on your dream(s), no level of adversity or challenge will be able to halt your dream(s) from bearing fruit and materializing in the future.

Despite their past experiences, these individuals became successful in their future

  • The biblical Joseph’s brothers hated him because he had dreams of becoming a great leader. They said to themselves: ‘’Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits…then we will see what becomes of his dreams”. He was thrown in a pit to die but was later sold as a slave and taken to Egypt where he eventually became a great leader and saw his dreams come to pass.
  • A young Thomas Edison was told by his teachers that he was “too stupid to learn anything”. When he started working, he was fired from his first two jobs because he was regarded as a “non-productive” individual. Eventually, he became arguably the greatest inventor to have come to this world.
  • Abraham Lincoln failed as a businessman and also failed in politics after going to the polls on numerous occasions; however, he eventually became President of the USA and is regarded as one of the greatest presidents to have occupied office.
  • Albert Einstein—who wasn’t able to speak until he was four years, and wasn’t able to read until he was seven—was considered as “sub-normal” by his parents; one of his teachers described him as “mentally slow, unsociable, and adrift forever in foolish dreams”. Later in life, he was able to speak and read; eventually, he became arguably the greatest scientist ever.
  • During the 1920s and 1930s, Robert Goddard, who has been regarded as the founder of modern design & operation, was severely criticized by people who believed that rockets would never travel in space; in fact, they disdainfully called his pursuit “Goddard’s Folly”. Eventually, rockets started traveling in space, and have been doing so time after time, again and again.
  • From the result of medical prognosis, English writer and composer Anthony Burgess was informed that in a year’s time, he would die from brain tumor; good enough, the information wasn’t able to deter him from writing and believing in having a fulfilled future. Faced with death, he was writing energetically like someone who wouldn’t die in a year’s time. Before a year was over, he ended up writing five and a half novels. Eventually, the amount of work produced by Anthony Burgess during a comparably shorter period became nearly equal to the lifetime work of E. M. Forster, and almost twice the amount of work produced by J. D. Salinger.

Instead of believing that you can’t, always believe that you can!

Although you don’t have the mind of Joseph, Edison, Lincoln, Einstein, Goddard, or Burgess, you have the faith and ability to achieve incredible success in the future. Success is the result of always having belief and taking action; each person will always have an opportunity to do what it would take to succeed in the future.

Whenever your mindset tries to flip the switch in your head and convince you that you can’t or won’t be able to achieve success, always tell yourself that it will only be a matter of time before you achieve success, especially if you are aware of the actions you need to take to achieve success in the future.

It might not always be easy, but if you consistently practice positivity, you will become accustomed to having at least an appreciably high or higher positive mindset, if not the highest one. Always remember that practice makes perfect—the same applies when building positivity to such an extent that negativity won’t be able to weigh you down and drag you away from success in the future.

You become who or what you associate yourself with

Although you shouldn’t abandon all your friends, it’s advisable to spend time mostly or only with people who can make you a better person in the most important areas of your life. Generally speaking, be mindful of the people you associate and spend most of your time with, and how they influence your worldview.

In addition, be careful about the type of materials you expose your mind to. Read books, watch videos, or listen to programs that can make you a more positive person and give your mind an edge or added advantage over the negativity that usually influences and takes over most people’s minds.

Blog for Passion, Not for Accolades—The Secret to Longevity in Blogging

Eventually, it will happen: after a period of doing something you love, you’ll lose interest and even forget why you started doing it in the first place. Whether it’s a calling, a career, or a relationship, you’ll start to lose passion and feel trapped.

Generally speaking, when you are doing anything for passion, at some point, you will likely experience a loss of interest; surprisingly, almost every person does: musicians experience this; sportspeople experience this; entrepreneurs experience this; bloggers and writers do too.

It happens to the most gifted people: along the journey of their calling, they lose steam and start to harbor thoughts of breaking up with their passions. Even if they achieve success, they eventually get to a point where their success no longer matters much.

Why? Because the reason they followed their passions in the first place, was no longer able to continue motivating them. Along the way, many bloggers dreamed of quitting, and actually stopped blogging, checked out, and moved on.

Although you might have started blogging for passion and not accolades, you might have lost motivation along the way because you didn’t get enough accolades or even traffic; regardless of what happened or will happen, if you don’t give in and quit, you can be able to develop enough strength to continue blogging for passion—not for accolades—and end up getting more than you ever dreamed of.

Blogging for passion will determine the course of your blogging or online publishing work and longevity which will help to establish your online legacy—the end product of your passion!

Blogging for passion is what differentiates someone who creates something meaningful and memorable, from someone who just gives up because they weren’t able to get enough or any accolades.

If you continue blogging for passion, you will always find out that there are better blog posts you are yet to create

If you stop blogging for accolades which can lose steam, and continue blogging for passion which can keep or maintain steam, you’ll surprisingly find out that there are better blog posts you are yet to create.

Many bloggers lose motivation because they are blogging for accolades: after they blog or write something, and an audience shows up, they are full of steam, and everything changes because they see followers, customers, or people to impress.

But in the absence of accolades or people to impress, things start to get very tricky. Many bloggers or writers experience this: at a certain point in their blogging journey, they find themselves tending to blog for accolades or the approval of others, instead of blogging for passion or the love they have for blogging.

If you are dissatisfied with your passion, or you can longer depend on it to sustain your blogging journey, then any incoming accolades or royalty checks will disappoint you because you will notice the obvious truth: accolades and royalty checks won’t be able to keep your drive for blogging as much as passion can!

If you continue blogging for passion and not for accolades by trying to please people, you will continuously come across the largest audience possible

If you can be able to maintain or fall back to blogging for passion, it will make all the difference for you! Although it may take courage to maintain or fall back to blogging for passion, it would be worth it if you succeed at doing either task.

A few years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to imagine that, as at the time of writing, I would have a site/blog with over 3,989 subscribers/followers and published 236 blog posts that would attract over 381,400 views—but the passion still sustains and drives me.

When you are blogging for affection and not for accolades in order to get readers’, subscribers’, or followers’ affections, then your blogging will affect and attract more people.

Your Writing is a Gift; the Time that People Give to Read it is a Blessing

I’ve learned one great lesson about audiences, subscribers, or followers of sites or blogs: most of them tend to believe in the writing abilities of writers or publishers of articles or blog posts: they believe we are good writers even though most of us might be wrestling with disbelief in our own writing abilities.

It has taken some of us a lot of time, probably several years of writing, blogging, failing, and growing, before we finally developed great faith in our writing abilities and believed that we are good writers.

We have an opportunity: a platform on which we can write words that matter to other people: a platform on which we can provide information in a language and change people’s mindset or mentality, and lives.

We write as much as we can, and we are privileged to have a platform where people come to read our writing through various search engines and from different parts of the world.

Our writing is a gift; the fact that people give up their valuable time to read our writing, is a blessing we can’t repay

Like other professionals who usually indulge in what they love doing, writers should spend their time doing what they love: writing. Writers need to write, maybe often or regularly. Writing regularly is the key to creating your best writing works.

Many writers have been writing, and building sites or blogs that give them an opportunity to deliver their message and be heard; they concentrate on their passion, and people, subscribers, or followers pay attention. This attention is a blessing that can’t be repaid!

Every day, writers add themselves to the online world—the internet

Every day, from different countries, writers add themselves to the internet and begin to establish themselves; those who are able to excel, stamp their authority and draw the attention of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of people, subscribers, or followers. This attention is certainly a blessing that can’t be repaid!

Writers come online with a destiny: to make a difference by sharing their words and messages which could be powerful enough to inspire strangers and create drastic changes in the world around us—but only if writers share their words and messages.

Writing is a choice which belongs to each individual writer: we can choose to write or not to write every single day. Therefore, it is entirely up to us to write and make an impact by leaving the world with words or messages to read.

Some writers fail to live up to their calling; as a result, the world will forever miss their words because they are just not writing

The world is full of many people who desire to become writers and make a difference in the world by sharing their words; however, the only problem they have is that they are just not writing!

In order to become the writer you admire, start writing and continue writing as much as you possibly can, always remembering deep within your heart that the world needs to hear your message.

Until you believe in yourself and acknowledge that the world needs to hear your message, you might not write; as a result, you could deprive the world of a gift that has the potential to change it for the better and make your writing leave a legacy that can stand the test of time.

Valuable Lessons from the Slow Events & Things of Nature

It would be boring to watch a tree grow; you would likely go crazy or become very uncomfortable if you stand there and impatiently wait for it to make every little and unexpected movement. But if you leave and come back, especially after some days, you’ll be astonished to see something entirely new and beautiful. The truth of the matter is that the tree and many other natural processes always do something: they grow and change—but not always as quickly as many people would like or expect.

Most people are terrible at waiting for things to mature slowly, or not as fast as they wish: we are simply awful at appreciating nature’s slowness or absence of haste or hurry in most of its activities. The reality of the matter is that most of the slow events and things of nature—including many slow worldly activities—create great results and lasting achievements and legacies in the world.

We always want to squeeze the most time out of every moment and find something to do so that we can feel that no single second is being wasted. Technology, especially TV and the Internet, have inclined our brain waves and made us to be consistently impatient.

We are/have become naturally restless and our emotions tend to make us rush into doing almost everything; meanwhile, we find it difficult to take delight in nature’s slowness that is part and parcel of nature’s lasting achievements which require time and patience.

Most people are too fast and would even like to be faster than nature which nourishes us and gives us the essence supplied from GOD. By hurrying and making everything urgent, we skip over and miss some important ingredients that create meaningful moments in life.

Growth and success occur slowly or gradually over time

Most times, we can’t see growth and success coming; they come slowly, over time. At times, the processes involved in growth and success feel more like inconveniences than opportunities; but if you are patient and stay in the slowness of the processes, you will wake up one day and be amazed at how far you’ve come.

When it comes to enduring the slow processes required of us, we generally have two choices: we can be impatient and bypass time in order to get immediate gratification, or we can be patient and embrace the time required (days, months, or even years) for slow but necessary growth which leads to success and lasting results.

Necessary nutrition gets lost when we rush; slow times shape us into who we are meant to become

We lose something whenever we place too many demands on the times in which we have to be more patient and move slowly: something valuable is sacrificed whenever we want to rush from the valley to the mountaintop.

By assuming that things should be done in a hurry, and success should always be achieved immediately, we condition ourselves to strive towards getting things done “now” or “immediately”; as a result, we act in ways that aren’t harmonious with nature. Having the “now” type of mindset can rob us of the lessons that patience and slow things (of nature) can teach us; it can cause us to miss out on the slow but important things of life.

The slow things of nature are great lessons of grace

We now live in a world where, instead of appreciating, and learning lessons from the slow things of nature, we usually reserve our appreciation and joy only for fast things or experiences.

Opportunities for great lessons in slow experiences or events are everywhere in nature, waiting for us to see them; but first, we must open our eyes in order to recognize them and the lasting value they hold.

It will be easier to appreciate lessons from the slow things of nature if we recall the times we were forced to do things slowly and patiently, while the discomfort of doing so caused us to grow and produce great finished products.

The slow things of nature are signs for those who have eyes to see; it reminds us that there is still valuable work that’s yet to be done, not just materially around us, but also spiritually in the inner parts of us. We are always in continuous progress: we are masterpieces always yet to be completed.

We all want to see the final completed growth, but we usually want to avoid the often slow process of growth—the aspect of life that makes growth take place. It’s difficult to watch and experience slow things or events, even though it opens people’s eyes to see each valuable step in each journey a destination.

It’s up to each person to learn from or discard the lessons in the slow things of nature. Each person has a daily opportunity; it’s up to us to take it or leave it. The slow things of nature are meant to show us a deeper truth: life is a gradual process, and the everyday rush is not always what we need; it’s not always what would get us lasting results. Learn to relish in the reality of the slow things of nature, embrace the opportunity they hold, and grasp the depths of abundance they can show you.

The Value of Waiting: Living Through the times Between the Big Moments

We spend most of our time waiting for our efforts and plans to yield results; we always wait to pay money to cashiers each time we are on checkout lines in grocery stores; we wait to become teenagers and adults; we wait for each weekend to come; we wait for vacation. In fact, we spend most of our days or lives waiting—each person spends most of their life waiting.

Contrary to what some of us think, the big or good moments of life aren’t behind us or ahead of us; maybe they are either somewhere in between, or right in the moment of waiting!

The waiting moments—or what some people call the “ordinary”, “mundane”, or “boring” moments—are what most of us really need because their supposed “lack of adventure” presents an opportunity for us to weigh or re-weigh the essence of life and possibly change our expectations, actions, or outlook on life for the better.

Perhaps, the big moments or abundant life we are individually seeking has little to do with big events and more to do with each small event which usually appears in a subtle form that has great value, depending on its beholder.

Although it is the desire of each human being to live a meaningful life full of experiences anyone can be proud of, many people fail to realize that the best moments are the waiting moments, or the moments that look “ordinary”, “mundane”, or “boring”.

Most of us have spent our whole lives longing for the next big thing and hoping that conditions or things would get better; however, holding out in great expectation for what is to come is not always the smartest strategy, especially when we can learn life’s lessons during waiting times, even though the waiting times might feel static and make everything around it appear to be standing still.

In the seeming stillness of waiting times, we can learn to live in the present or moment and acknowledge the lessons that life is trying to teach us; this can make us greater or wiser if we regard waiting time as an adventure, regardless of what happens—whether things turn out or don’t turn out the way we expect.

Generally, waiting times can help you surrender to what GOD or life might have always wanted to teach you

Life is filled with an endless series of things that, sometimes, don’t get done no matter how much we wait. Since life may consist of broken promises and incomplete projects geared towards achieving a better tomorrow, you would be better off valuing your waiting or ordinary time.

Whether you continuously watch the clock rotate again and again, wait in office lobbies as you are constantly put on hold, or you have a schedule that is full of obligations, value your waiting time instead of lingering in past glories or concentrating all your hope on the best type of future.

Your waiting time, which could occur in normal everyday situations, can enhance your patience and give you time to reflect on the life lessons that really matter. Waiting times might not be comfortable, but they are valuable even when they occur in between the big moments of your life.

Waiting times provide an opportunity to reflect on life experiences and let go of vain pursuits; it could help you to look beyond personal ambition and replace it with something better.

The Quality of Progress is in the Quantity (Number of Attempts You Make)

It is very important to make progress in life; in most cases, progress is achieved by any person who makes many attempts or trials. Generally, the quality of progress is in the quantity or number of attempts you make.

Even though you will certainly make some mistakes on the path to success, never forget that mistakes are part of progress, and progress will always progress, regardless of whether the outcomes of your decisions or actions are positive or negative.

More often than not, progress comes by making many trials and being persistent

On your path to success, don’t be too keen on splitting consequences into negatives and positives; consider both positives and negatives as one and a whole that is required for complete progress, especially in the long run. Without negatives, you might not learn lessons and become wiser in the future.

Most successful people regard failures as a part of the overall learning process and consider them to be stepping-stones to greatness and breakthroughs; as a result, they don’t let the negative outcomes of their actions or decisions derail their enthusiasm to achieve a goal.

Success is in the numbers or number of trials

Successful people think about progress all the time, and they are aware that their persistence and repetition or attempts at anything will eventually lead to breakthroughs and yield tremendous results.

Statistically speaking, the more attempts you make to achieve something, the better your odds will be to succeed at it. If the odds are a thousand to one against your attempts to achieve a particular result, it also implies that if you make one thousand attempts, then you are guaranteed to achieve the result; or at least, you will greatly increase the probability for you to achieve the result!

The book “Art & Fear” tells the story of a ceramics teacher who split his class into two groups: One group was to be graded based only on the quality of their work, while the other group was to be graded based only on the quantity of their work.

The group that was to be graded based only on the quality of their work was asked to produce one pot which had to be perfect in order for the group to be graded “A”.

On the other hand, the group that was to be graded based only on quantity would have all their pots weighed and the group would have to produce a total quantity of 50 pounds of pots for it to be graded “A”; but if the group produced less than a quantity of 50 pounds of pots, then they would receive a lesser grade.

After the two groups got to work, the following results were observed:

  • The group that was to be graded based only on quality spent a lot of time devising how they would be able to make one perfect pot; when the time came to actually make or create the pot, they either made a number of mistakes or found out that their skills were not developed enough to help them succeed in making a perfect pot.
  • The group that was to be graded only on quantity, made one pot after another and, during the process, made mistakes but learned from their mistakes each time they made a new pot; this helped them to sharpen their skills and enhance their techniques. At the end of the day, the group that concentrated on quantity created a greater quantity of pots that were of higher quality than the ones produced by the group that concentrated on quality.

In the long run, the quality of progress you will make is in the quantity or number of attempts you make. Don’t let any negative outcomes of your attempts weigh you down; use both positive and negative outcomes for your overall progress.

“You never know what you can achieve until you try. There is no limit”—Jerry Mahan.

The Easiest Way to Miss Your Life Calling is to Ignore It

Many people ignore their life calling and sadly die with their song still vibrating within themselves: they missed their life calling in the first place because they simply ignored it—the easiest way to miss your life calling is to ignore it directly or indirectly.

If you aren’t careful, some thoughts would make you ignore your life calling: you might feel you are too old or silly to chase your life calling or dream, especially when it seems out of reach; or you might even feel it is too risky to go after your life calling. We should do all we can to stop entertaining and even going as far as accepting such thoughts.

On a more serious note, we should stop the habit of putting off stuff for “some other day” which usually never comes. Any stuff that is worth starting should start at the moment—today—not tomorrow or later.

It is quite common for us to be complacent and provide excuses for our lack of action or inability to act; we often ask or think: “why should I take such a risk when my siblings, family, and friends aren’t?”, “why should I take that path when it would make me look weird or completely different and even alienate me from most of the people who love me?”.

Instead of doing what siblings, parents, and society expect you to do, listen and follow your life calling or inner voice of intuition so that you can be directed to do the most genuine and significant thing(s) you can possibly do.

Depending on how you regard your life calling, you may or may not live up to your potential

Ignoring your life calling could be done in a number of ways, either directly or indirectly. Some people blatantly reject their life calling, while some other people who accept it, end up missing it along the way when they treat it as a single event instead of a lifestyle.

You could indirectly ignore your life calling and miss the target or mark if you regard it as an isolated event in your life, instead of the whole body of work that permeates through your relationships, your job, and the legacy or essence you would leave behind after your entire life.

Never forget that your life calling or vocation is like a great work of art or literature, instead of just a single masterpiece: a life calling is an entire body of work, not a single piece of work; and you may end up spending a significant or greater part of your life following your life calling.

If you directly ignore your life calling or stop following it after finding out what it is, you could give up at some point in time and completely miss it, even though you might have initially heard or answered the call.

Don’t settle for something good or less when you were called to achieve greatness—create a legacy that can call other people to their respective life calling

Many people who were called for greatness settled for something less at some point in time along the way, maybe because they were satisfied, or they became complacent or discouraged, etc.

If you have lost focus along the way, it’s never too late to summon the remaining energy you have and continue on the path instead of retiring and settling for less when you were destined for more and greatness—don’t settle for something good or less when you were called to achieve greatness!

Achieving success in one event isn’t the only goal; achieving success in many events should be the goal which will stamp your legacy. We are called to call others; in fact, we are given gifts so that we can give them away to other people.

Never allow complacency to step in even when you find yourself at the pinnacle of greatness; whenever you get up there, keep your head down and assume that you are just be getting started!

To be Called is not Enough; Become Your Calling!

You and I face a choice every day: to either pursue and become our respective authentic selves, or pursue and become other people’s selves which are a shadow of our individual calling or “the real thing”.

Generally, we either do exactly what parents or society expects us to do, or listen and follow our inner voice of intuition which is deep within us and can direct us to do the most significant thing(s) we can possibly do.

Whatever you do in life, whether it requires you to run for thousands of meters, pick up your hammer and scalpel, sit down in front of your laptop, or climb mountains, etc., insofar as you intend to follow your heart and do meaningful work in the world, then you are becoming your life calling, your calling, or what you are meant to be!

Each person has a purpose and potential, and actually everything they need to become their life calling or their destined complete self. If you have found a reason to fulfill your life calling and be happy or contented with it, then you’ve likely found your purpose and potential which was always within you.

It’s already in each of us to become our respective life calling and accept our role in a story that is almost always bigger than our respective selves.

What kind of medical doctor, footballer, scientist, writer, or person do you want to become? What would you like to become or achieve in life? Fortunately or unfortunately, instead of only being inspired by other people, many of us want to go the extra mile, actually become exactly like another person or other people, and have what they had—talent, money, fame, etc.

Although freedom is a great thing, having unrestricted freedom could be paralyzing

The good news is that since the beginning of your life—even before you were born in this world—the path to your life’s calling and work was already laid out for you; it was always there with GOD from the very beginning, and it is quite different from the life calling of your siblings, parents, friends, and all the famous people you admire.

However, with the degree of unrestricted freedom each person has in regard to making choices, most times it is easier to be led astray or off the true path to our respective calling, especially when boundaries or borders are not in place to help us focus on what we’re supposed to become.

Even though we are called, we have to take action to find our respective or individual calling; when you are finding your calling, you’re not just seeking to engage in an activity, but you are also seeking an understanding and identity that matches your life’s calling of who you are meant to be, not only physically, but mostly spiritually.

Becoming your life calling could require a lot of time, years, and experiences in many places

Becoming your life’s calling could even require you to wear other people’s shoes, and be unsettled, seriously challenged, shaken, and dissolved. Most of us spend too much time trying to be someone else before we eventually wake up and clearly see our own life calling. It’s unfortunate that most people waste time recreating a life they admire, instead of looking for the one they were born for.

Because most of us are afraid of finding our individual calling and being our true selves, we vainly expend effort and energy on pursuits that are destined to end up being a failure.

Few people deviate from the normal or expected pattern and become who they were meant to be. Actually, “many are called, but few are chosen” because many chose the expected pattern while few chose the unexpected or rare pattern that required them to do what had to be done in order for them to become their life calling.

Why few people “decide to make it happen” and become their life calling

But what is really at stake that makes few people become their life calling? Why do few people achieve the objective of becoming their life calling? As it is with many journeys into the future or unknown, there are dangers, risks, many barriers, and the likelihood of failure.

In order to receive the highest prize which is “becoming their life calling”, instead of going as far as taking risks and being rejected by society and friends, many who are called but end up not being chosen, prefer to play it safe and be accepted by society and friends.

Most people prefer to live a life of relative obscurity and safety and focus on the things that would garner them praise, instead of taking risks and daring to do something great like the few who end up being chosen by the hands of destiny.

The journey of every true hero always included some sacred and risky task and path that helped them find their life calling and eventually gain a deeper understanding of who they were born to be.

Endless Possibilities: Anything, Something, or Nothing is Possible; What do You Believe in?

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in life is that there are endless or infinite possibilities. If you really believe that something is possible and focus on being positive, and act in any constructive means necessary in order to turn the possibility into reality, then you can materialize it or make it become reality.

I’ve also learned from my Christian Bible and the actions of great people that, if you don’t believe that something is possible, you will blindfold yourself to the directions and ways in which it could possibly be materialized. Anybody who has disbelief is imposing blindness on themself.

Do you think it’s possible to materialize endless or infinite possibilities? Do you really think it is possible to become truly great like the great men and women who came to this world, turned it around, and moved on to the other side of existence? Your answer would boil down to the nature of your belief or disbelief.

If your desire is to turn endless or infinite possibilities into reality, then you have reached a defining moment in your life: learn to think from outside the box, believe that one person’s impossibility is another person’s possibility, and always look for ways to win your personal debates against negativity.

It’s obvious that there are three types of possibility people stick to or believe in: (i) “anything is possible”, (ii) “something is possible”, and (iii) “nothing is possible”. It is quite unfortunate that a number of people believe that “nothing is possible” because they don’t view life in terms of possibilities; therefore, they don’t take action and as a result, nothing happens—just like they had believed.

Many or most people believe that “something is possible” because they view life in terms of possibilities and believe in thinking positively and acting with a purpose. While it might not be enough to just believe, not having any belief could be enough to completely sabotage one’s physical and mental efforts before they even attempt to do anything or make any effort.

If you think something will happen, it probably will, even if you don’t take necessary or important action(s). However, you might only end up with something happening, and it would stop there because necessary action was lacking; as a result, “something” is all you might get, and nothing more!

Very few people make big things happen because they believe that anything is possible if they want it to such an extent that they are willing to do whatever is necessary to get it. The “anything-is-possible” minded person believes in endless and infinite possibilities and that “when there is a will, there will always be a way to materialize every possibility”.

The “anything-is-possible” minded person believes that if they want something badly enough, and if they have a big enough reason why it is necessary to achieve it, then they will be able to figure out a way to achieve it. It is not without reason that this statement is widely accepted: “necessity is the mother of invention”.

Anything is possible if you concentrate your mind on it and take necessary and important action to realize it, even when challenges and barriers face you from out of nowhere. When you encounter challenges or barriers, do you first think of how you can still succeed, or how you would fail—maybe once again? This is where the test lies!

To reach the highest level you possibly can, you will most likely always be faced with challenges and have to answer the question “If you want to achieve a possibility or great goal, what must you do”? Believe that with your efforts and actions, even if they are by trial and error, you can be able to realize your goals.

If you think that anything is possible and combine this mentality with appropriate action, you will strengthen your inner energies to push yourself into the realm of endless or infinite possibilities which will require you to take action.

If you take action, even as a newcomer or novice, you will most likely make some errors or mistakes and not achieve the type of progress you had initially hoped for. Always remember that setbacks could occur along the way, but the good news is that setbacks are not total failure and shouldn’t be allowed to discourage or stop you, unless you allow them.

Many people who made endless or infinite possibilities become reality, reached their potential simply because they never viewed any of their failed attempts as failure and allowed it to halt their progress and motivation to keep trying! Anyone who doesn’t stop trying hasn’t actually failed, and should never consider themself a failure at any point in time.

The Importance of Modelling Around Successful Life Activities Related to Your Interests

Sir Isaac Newton famously said: “If I have seen farther than others, it is because I was standing on the shoulders of giants”. By implication—not only based on Sir Isaac Newton’s statement—although anyone can achieve a lot by using their invaluable GOD-given talent, the road to accomplishments is smoother if one is modelling around or about the successful life activities that are related to their profession, calling, business, or area of specialization.

Modelling is the process of discovering and applying what people have done or used to produce results—especially exceptional results! Modelling about life activities is eye-opening and can save a ton of time and effort in many areas of life. Would you like to be great at acting, playing football, treating patients, or any other thing?

Whatever it is that you want to be great at, even if you have the talent, you can make it much easier to achieve if you model about the life activities of people who have been there before and achieved success.

Yes, you could actually use your talent without modelling about the life activities of achievers, but there always comes a time when you would be faced with new and unexpected challenges, or need to hit new heights; this is when you might need quick and direct insight instead of laboring for ages to get past certain barriers or difficulties: this is when you need to slow down and start modelling about the successful life activities of people who were able to break through many hurdles in the past and achieve success.

Models that have been discovered and implemented have helped people make breakthroughs in science, arts, sports, and many professions or fields of study.

The movers and shakers of this world are good at modelling about the successful life activities relevant to their interests

Even very talented individuals have mastered the art of modelling about related life activities and learning everything possible by following peoples’ experiences instead of grinding their brains and energy out, especially when faced with difficult challenges that might require hard work and ages to overcome.

Building from past successes of achievers is one of the key aspects of most learning endeavors. To successfully model about related and successful life activities, you have to be good at investigating, questioning, and detecting, and be able to track down all the hints and tips that produce successful results.

Use your creative thinking while modelling about related and successful life activities

If you’re modelling about successful life activities or foundational models for success, it doesn’t mean you should discard your talent or creative ability—far from it; in fact, you should use your creative ability or thinking much more after achieving success by using foundational models.

You can get the most out of your creative ability or creativity after modelling about related life activities which serve as proven foundational models for success. After achieving success with your initial models, you can then start applying, innovating, or tweaking your creativity until you accomplish other things initial models might not have been able to accomplish.

When modelling about related life activities, don’t try to use talent or creativity as a short-cut

If you make an attempt to employ creative thinking or creativity on most models before implementing them (the models), you might render the models completely ineffective; scientific research and many activities have proven this.

Generally, if you try to use creativity as a shortcut or way to cover up for your lack of thoroughly understanding and implementing a model, you might not have a great chance to achieve the highest possible results and greater accomplishments which could even lie outside the borders of what the model has been able to achieve.

Conclusion

Throughout history, it has been exhausting to always use raw talent to reinvent the wheel, especially when it comes to making breakthroughs or innovations. Most times, using raw talent without modelling about related and successful life activities leads to wear out and even complete breakdowns and burnouts. On the other hand, discovering and implementing successful models has been very effective and empowering; in fact, it makes activities easier to engage in, and challenges easier to surmount.

Whenever very difficult situations are encountered, it may be better to search for and apply models that have worked, and use their successes as a launching pad. After thoroughly understanding and implementing any model, you can innovate around it and try to improve on its effectiveness or results. Generally, implement a model before you innovate, or tweak your creativity!

If you start any endeavor by applying a model, you may be surprised to find out that you can push the ceilings higher and eventually break many unforeseen or unexpected barriers. Even if a model has limitations, you can use your creativity to get a breakthrough and eventually hit new heights of success.

Each life improvement usually has its own limitations, and, sooner or later, would require a breakthrough to ensure there is progress beyond the limitations. With the right amount of creativity or innovation, anyone who implements a model will be able to achieve another breakthrough and accomplishment and move forward. That’s how the cycle has always been, especially in the academic world.

Poverty and wealth shouldn’t be defined by only how much income you make or what you have

How do you define the words “poverty” and “wealth”? Both words have distinct meanings that are usually poles apart and depend on the amount of material/physical possessions an individual either has or doesn’t have.

Wouldn’t you agree that a doctor is not rich if he earns $500,000 a year, but spends over $750,000 per year and struggles to make ends meet? Certainly, anybody who spends money this way would make life a bit difficult for themself.

Most people would agree that $500,000 is quite a lot of money, and people who have made that amount of money—or much less per year—became very wealthy by utilizing or investing it in amazing ways.

At the other end of the ladder between poverty and wealth, some people live on less than a few dollars per day, don’t have modern conveniences, walk several miles each day to get clean drinking water, and even cook all their food by burning wood with fire!

However, these people who “struggle”—as most of us would say—always have an infectious smile, joy, and contentment, and continue to work hard and remain optimistic as they strive to make ends meet and improve their lives.

Poverty and wealth are much more than just a context or concept

What I have learned—not only by understanding the lifestyles of people in the suburbs but also by understanding the lifestyles of people in the slums—is that poverty and wealth are much more than just a context or concept. In many ways, both are different types of mindset.

There are some rich people who live in the poorest parts of the world—but they are truly rich; also, there is a different category of rich people who live in million- or multimillion-dollar homes, but are actually bankrupt!

At the other end, there are some people who have only the basic needs of life but are contented and radiate wealthiness even though the world believes that they are poor are “living in poverty” and “struggle to make ends meet”. Oh, what a world we live in!

Even if we conclude that someone is poor because of the beliefs and definitions we have about “poverty”, that person might not be poor or continue to remain poor because they have a demeanor, a vibe, and attributes that can attract opportunities and change their life to depict our own definition of what “wealthiness” or “having wealth” means.

Poverty is not poverty when it has prospects and high hopes

Some types of poverty are of a different kind; they don’t necessarily mean “poverty” in the actual sense, or in the sense that depicts the popular definition of “poverty”. You can see something inspiring through some of the eyes of those whom the world believes are living in poverty.

If someone can find meaning and motivation in a rural or slummy environment with nothing more than a farm to feed on, and a shack to start their business, then what is stopping many of us from utilizing some or all the modern-day tools that are at our disposal?

In reality, our circumstances can rarely dictate what we are capable of doing with our lives; people who have become great after living under harsh conditions have often taught me more than any millionaire could ever teach me: at whatever stage I am in life, how much income I make, or what I have, is a means to a much better life.

Success isn’t Only about Making Money; it’s about having Enough Dedication to Turn Dreams into Reality

Success is achieved whenever any dream, goal, or aim is realized. Success isn’t only about becoming a millionaire—or becoming rich—it’s about setting any goal and achieving it.

It’s quite unfortunate that our modern world tends to believe that the key to success is by having a mind that’s fixed on money-making: it tends to believe that money should be the outcome of success or any successful venture.

If you ever achieve a goal on the road to success, don’t expect to see yourself surrounded by heaps of cash: in the process of achieving a goal, a lot of money might not necessarily be made, but there will be satisfaction which weighs much more than money in many areas of life!

Be dedicated to your passion; although your dedication might not be relevant now, its product may become a legacy in the future

In this age, success is often associated with having a lot of money; in addition, it’s also often associated with the size of one’s stocks, or one’s bank account(s); in fact, there is a popular notion that something is definitely wrong or lacking when anyone achieves success but doesn’t have excessive amounts of money to back up their success.

When you achieve success, but people still call you a failure, just keep on moving forward regardless of the amount of money you have made from your success. The truth is that truly successful people realize a much higher sense of fulfillment in fulfilling their calling than fulfilling the expectations of the masses.

Talent is just a starting point for success; as you walk on the road to success, passion might not be the only remaining key you need to get the job done: on its own, passion might not just be enough, especially when it meets challenges or misfortune. A passionate person has to be dedicated all the way through—dedicated even when their passion is hit by stumbling blocks and is dying! Dedication is the real deal; it’s actually a major key to success.

As a major key to success, dedication can push anyone beyond the limits, extents, or limitations of what other people believe is the most possible or the most attainable; money may follow as a by-product when you’re on the road to success.

Dedication is a characteristic that goes beyond talent and competence; it’s a quality that makes its owner approach their life or calling as a creative work; dedication doesn’t care whether its possessor has the highest salary in their company, or whether they are the most popular person in their field of study or profession.

The road to success would be smoother if you understand your unlimited potential and dedicate your life fully to its calling, regardless of what may come your way. Dedication means staying on track and doing your absolute best, no matter what—come what may!

Remain dedicated on the road to success because dedication is key to success; your calling requires it, and it will make you become the best you can be in terms of productivity. On an individual level, dedication is a quality that can make us become who we were created to be.

Good Luck and Bad Luck Happen to Everyone; What Matters is What You do With Your Luck

How you make use of the lucky and unlucky circumstances that you come across, will determine whether you become successful or unsuccessful in certain aspects of your life: what could make a person successful is not the type of “luck”—good or bad—that they experience, but what they do with their type of “luck”.

Throughout history, countless real-life stories have shown and proven that opportunities come to people in the form of what is regarded as “good luck” and “bad luck”—lucky circumstances or unlucky circumstances—and different people have succeeded by making various uses of good and bad luck—fortune and misfortune.

Successful people have been more or less lucky and unlucky than unsuccessful people

One of the major differences between successful and unsuccessful people is that successful people have done remarkable things with both their lucky and unlucky moments, while unsuccessful people keep on sitting and waiting for only lucky moments; even when lucky or fortunate moments come, they usually don’t make good use of them.

Ask yourself: “What will I do when my lucky moment comes”? On the other hand, but less importantly, ask yourself: “What will I do when my unlucky moment comes”? Thomas Edison conducted a thousand unsuccessful experiments before he succeeded in inventing the electric light bulb which has been a great blessing to mankind since 1880.

It might not be wrong to conclude that the electric light bulb was invented after taking a thousand steps. If many people were in Edison’s shoes while conducting the experiments, they could have believed that they were “unlucky” or unfortunate, and given up after the first few unsuccessful experiments.

Each person has opportunities, not necessarily to become exactly what they want but to become someone—the person they were meant to be

It’s one thing to attribute successes to good fortune, especially when the successes belong to other people, and it’s quite another thing to recognize that we live in a world that is full of opportunities, and each individual can do something with the good and bad moments that cross their path.

During so-called unlucky moments, your resolve to fulfill your dreams could be tested by your continuous practice and dedication, regardless of whether they are as equal as that of Edison, or even more or less than his. For some people, dedication and practice are required to hone their skills long after their inspiration or spark of luck or fortune disappears.

Will you be committed no matter what, or will you quit when things become too hard or unlucky?

We might not know exactly what makes some little boys and girls dream of becoming a musician, athlete, doctor, or study computer programming instead of something else. Although we can get a lot of inspiration by reading case studies of famous musicians, athletes, doctors, and computer programmers, we might still be unable to completely understand what makes some people continue practicing for countless hours, and be dedicated when confronted by misfortune, bad luck, or unlucky circumstances.

Where does their motivation come from? It comes from a spark of the vision they have about their future self—a dream of what they would like to become.

Usually, skill is the result of practice; it’s the product of persistent trial and error—especially in unlucky or unproductive moments— until the person “gets it right”

Although we could all agree that some people have special opportunities, and success relies on factors other than hard work, it’s not always true that every person can become exactly whatever they want. Where and when you were born can influence what you do, and what you can achieve.

Generally speaking, success or greatness doesn’t just happen: research has proven that, in too many cases, outstanding or highly developed skills are the result of practice—even intensive practice; they are products of persistent trial and error until the possessor of the highly developed or outstanding skills “gets it right”. Nobody walked on to stages of American Idol and overwhelmed the judges without practicing, and nobody successfully picked up a computer and started coding without practicing.

During unlucky moments in life, it may take a lot of dedication and practice to “get it right”. Our natural skills or talents won’t always be enough to keep us keyed in and dedicated when we are yet to achieve success; neither will our hours of practice. Although some skills seem to come naturally, others have to be developed when we don’t perform well with them, as much as we do in others.

Some things we consider as failures are not challenges that have to be overcome; they are signs that we should stop what we are doing and move in a different direction

During different stages in life, each person may need an initial spark or moment of inspiration to light up their path. This initial spark or moment of inspiration is sometimes entirely different from good luck; it won’t be difficult for you to come to this realization if you study how some people succeeded by using the same opportunities that were also available to people who couldn’t succeed. Generally, successful people embraced their “luck” or “opportunity” and used it to make extraordinary achievements.

Your Calling Won’t Always Lead You to the Most Comfortable Lifestyle

Depending on your calling, you could be in a situation where you have the opportunity to make only one decision: although this decision could be in complete agreement and harmony with your conscience and create a crucial turning point in your life or lifestyle, it may lead you into the most uncomfortable situation.

Generally speaking, sometimes a calling won’t lead you to the most comfortable situation, life, or lifestyle. It is quite unfortunate that at certain points in life, we have to pivot through discomfort and difficulties before we achieve personal success.

But here is the truth: your calling will always lead you to a life or lifestyle that you are in harmony with—especially a life that you can be proud of

Although, how we achieve the goals of our individual calling would depend mainly on us, the path we take to achieve our goals might not always depend completely on us. Sometimes the path or road can be very challenging, costly, uncomfortable, and even deadly; but what usually lies at the end of the path is a prize that money can’t buy—what usually lies at the end of the road is a legacy that the world won’t forget.

Ask and you would find out that the best thing to ever happen to some people was an uncomfortable situation: receiving a sack letter, or getting sacked by friends; being ordered to take long and arduous routes instead of short routes; getting dumped by people whom they completely depended on; losing almost everything they ever had; being given responsibilities that were too much to bear; etc.

In many cases, uncomfortable situations and challenges have forced successful people to look deep within themselves, develop, become better people, and receive prizes that are priceless. Although deadly paths may force you to take journeys that will be filled with unexpected twists and turns, they will ultimately lead you to realize your life’s calling. At times the journeys may be difficult, and even painful, but the pain will be worth the reward at the end of the journeys.

In the long run or short run, pain is gain: there are hidden inspiring messages in failure and the challenging situations that occur while you’re following your calling

How many times have you lost something, only to find out a little bit later, or much later, that what had you lost made you gain much more than you could ever imagine? How many times have you been betrayed or neglected, but found at the end of the day that the experiences made you better and stronger? How many times were you sacked by friends and close confidants, only to find out that, in the long or short run, it was necessary for you to be sacked in order for you to become greater and rich, or even richer?

Stop Dreaming & Start Acting: Halt Your Dreams & Become a Person Who Takes Action

One of the greatest internal challenges people face is the struggle to turn themselves from dreamers to doers. The best evidence for achieving something valuable is the successful transformation of an idea or dream into reality. Most people just need to put in extra effort and transform themselves from dreamers to doers.

Go the extra mile and transform your perspective from that of a dreamer into that of a doer—an achiever: Stop dreaming and start acting—stop talking and start doing!

Don’t only dream about being a writer, start writing. Don’t only dream about being an activist—start some activism. Don’t only dream about being an entrepreneur—launch your entrepreneurship!

Evidence of your real-life story starts where your physical action starts, not only where your dreams or mental actions start and end: evidence plays out when your actions begin to make a difference with your talents and skills and cause a mixture of your ideas and actions to create success.

Download eBook PDF: Real Faith that can Deeply Inspire you Forever

Even if tension exists and risks are inevitable, the rewards for your efforts would be great and worthwhile if you stop dreaming and start taking action(s) right now with the resources that are available at this very moment.

Although dreams are powerful and can spark action, they are not good enough if you don’t take action

The process of pursuing a passionate dream can become a farce if you don’t take action. If you are too consumed by your dreams to such an extent that you don’t take action, you could even get lost in your own dream world, and not know the difference between your dream world and reality. Action is the true reality!

Choosing to stay engaged in your dreams, and taking action, are both two different options. The problem with staying engaged with your dreams is that the world around you won’t get changed: reality doesn’t get changed by a dream that is not backed with action, and the world remains the same regardless of how great your dream is without any action to realize it.

Dreams are powerful and can spark something, but it’s only when dreamers take actions, that true transformation and success occurs

If you dream about becoming—for example—a writer, activist, or entrepreneur, then one of the worst things you can do is to hang out all the time and talk about it without ever taking action, or without ever planning to take action.

To change your perspective from a dreamer to a person who takes action, you have to challenge yourself enough to get your dream started with action: halt your dreams and become a person of action

Although certain people have a dream and know their calling, the problem is that they find it hard to get started with action. In fact, they are not just waiting on their calling; their calling is the one actually waiting on them.

Instead of going all out to act and “do it”, they waste their time around by playing the “what-if” game until their motivation becomes exhausted and everything spirals or plummets downwards for bad or the worse. By acting with negligence, and behaving as if their calling is nothing more than a dream, they waste their passion and deprive the world of a gift by not taking action.

Today—in fact, now—is time we can decide to see things with utmost clarity; we don’t have to wait until we get on our deathbeds when each one of us would have to look back on how we spent our lives, especially when we had the opportunity to stop dreaming and start acting, but didn’t.

Do What You Love Doing & Give the World What it Needs—Your Life’s Calling

How can you discover and move in the direction of your life’s calling? Find out what you love doing, what the world needs, and what you are capable of offering the world, and consistently combine all of them.

In the distant past, whenever I saw someone whom I assumed was pursuing their life’s calling, I often believed that the person had everything in place and knew from the very beginning of their lives what they were born to do—I believed that they had a plan from the onset.

You Might not Know Your Life’s Calling From the Onset: A Calling Doesn’t Usually Have Everything in Place From the Very Beginning; Someone Else Might Have to Show You Your Life’s Calling

In many instances, it’s wrong to assume that from the very beginning, people just know exactly what their life’s calling is, and what they are supposed to do with their lives. Although many people don’t know what their life’s calling is from the very beginning, along the path of life, and at the right time, they could know or find out.

One’s calling can be clear from the onset, or can become clear later on along the road of their life. The world is an uncertain place that’s full of mysteries and opportunities and needs each person’s gifts to solve problems. Many people go through life without knowing their life’s calling from the onset. They focus their attention on getting comfort and enhancing their social stature and finally get to a point where their soul awakens and grows restless until they hear the voice of their life’s calling.

In order to illustrate that one’s calling might not always be clear or sensed from the onset, let’s take a look at the biblical story of the young boy Samuel who later became a powerful prophet: it was by trial and error he discovered the voice of GOD which led him (Samuel) to his calling.

When the young boy Samuel was called by GOD, three times he got the call wrong before he ended up getting it right. He initially misunderstood the call and thought it was from his master Eli. After Samuel heard the third call, Eli understood what was going on, and made Samuel understand that the call was actually from GOD; it wasn’t from his master Eli. The point is this: initially, Samuel failed to understand the right call, and he had to take one step at a time in order to get it right: for the young boy Samuel to become a prophet, he went through a process of trial and error.

It has to be noted that young boy Samuel’s case is not a general case of how one’s calling can be discovered or found. The voice of a calling can sound different to different ears, and it can be tightly linked with your passion and the best you are capable of offering the world—especially solutions to problems.

One Great Formula for Moving in the Direction of Your Calling: Find/Discover What you Love Doing, and What the World Needs, and Combine The Two of Them

The best type of occupation or vocation is the one in which your highest level of happiness moves together or hand in hand with your ability to give the world the best you are capable of offering. We cannot control when, where, or how to receive life’s calling, but we can control ourselves in those moments.

The young boy Samuel who had a passion for the things of GOD and priesthood from an early age didn’t know from the onset that GOD was the One calling him; his master Eli had to help him understand that it was GOD. Based on the story, it can be concluded that although young boy Samuel was hearing from GOD, he thought he was hearing from a man; in fact, the young boy Samuel needed help to understand that his calling was from GOD. Often, life speaks to us in mysterious and extraordinary ways, but we can make a decision to find out our calling by discovering and balancing our passion with knowing and offering the best that we can possibly offer the world.

Each Person’s Success Story is Actually the Success Story of Joint Effort from Various People

In most instances during the life of anyone who has achieved extraordinary success, the person encountered a helper, mentor, or guide who invested in their abilities and helped them achieve the extraordinary success they achieved. In some cases, a single person was encountered; in other cases, many people were encountered.

Regardless of the number of people encountered, each encounter was ultimately instructive and helpful. The truth is that, no matter how much we believe that successful people make it on their own, their success couldn’t be realized without the aid and assistance of others: every person’s success story is actually the success story of joint effort!

Every Success Story is, In Fact, a Success Story of a Joint Effort

It is rare to see someone succeed only by themselves, and without any major or minor help from one or more other people. Some people will willingly help you or contribute to your education, etc., while others might accidentally help you or contribute to your education, etc. No matter how you receive help, if you are wise, you will use it to succeed; always remember that it’s not possible to walk all by yourself towards success. No man is an island—this is a reality we have to accept.

As we march towards our individual destinies, each one of us is influencing another person/other people’s destinies in one way or another. Although your journey is unique, it is full of fellow sojourners, helpers and mentors who will help or strengthen you along the path; you might not always be able to find them, but you can be able to recognize them when they appear along your path, and you can gain from the opportunity of meeting such teachers, mentors, or helpers.

Your Helper or Mentor Might not Look Like What You Had Ever Imagined or Dreamed of

In many instances, we don’t need a helper or mentor who is as soft as we would like or expect; what we probably need is someone who doesn’t meet our expectations: we need someone who can challenge us, someone who can influence or even force us to think and act differently, but in a progressive and successful way—that’s exactly the type of person most of us need; after all, that’s the main job of a helper or mentor.

When Looking for Success, Be Ready to Meet or Look for Helpers or Mentors in Unexpected Places

Each person who helps or mentors us, serves a purpose in our lives. Helpers or mentors could arrive at an unexpected time, or just at the right time to help us or cheer us in regard to the important thing(s) we need the most. Even friends, old relationships that have dwindled down, and long-lost relatives may become the sources of motivation that we need to succeed. Each person who helps, mentors, educates or inspires you, eventually contributes to your success.

How Do People Find Helpers or Mentors?

How do helpers or mentors come across people’s paths? Sometimes it’s hard to see or tell where they come from, or how they appear, because they could appear seemingly out of nowhere; however, they could appear just around/at the right time. Meeting helpers or mentors might often look like an accident or a mystery but, it might likely be far from an accident or mystery.

Whenever we want something, especially if it would bring about greater good or benefits, GOD will set His universe in a way that will help you achieve it. If a person is determined to do what matters in order to succeed, the world will make room for such an ambition to be materialized. Although you might not be able to predict how your success will materialize, you can be prepared for the ingredients required to make it materialize.

When pursuing success, you will find a community of helpers and mentors who can motivate, educate and even champion you along the way. It won’t always be your job to locate or find where these people come from, but it would be your job to keep your eyes or awareness open. Helpers and mentors are all around you, and if you listen to your life as it speaks, you’ll be able to recognize them and be more prepared to accept the value(s) they have to offer.

Each Experience is Valuable; No Experience is a Waste

No experience is a waste. There is no task, no job, no obstacle or challenge that is useless if we see how it fits into your calling. Every sorrow, every joy, every defeat, and every success leads to general advancement—yes, all things work together for good! If we can sit back and learn a lesson or two from every setback and progress, we will come to the realization that each person’s story can make anybody at least a bit wiser in this university of life.

There is Value Below the Surface of Each Experience

Taking a look back, I realize how, at times, it was difficult and frustrating to do a certain task or to experience a certain challenge, especially if I had an affinity for something tied to it; I felt like I was being held back, but later or much later on in the future, I came to realize the truth: I used a skill or lesson I acquired or learned during the difficult or frustrating times of the past. Those difficult and frustrating times were meant to prepare me for the future, or for whatever was to come.

If you take time to explore your own calling, you will likely be surprised at how your past experiences—especially the ones your regarded as “difficult” or a “waste”—are putting heads together to strengthen and lead you in line with your life’s calling or destiny. In a way, it’s advisable we become like little children again, by watching and listening to our past experiences and those of other people, so that we can pick up lessons—no matter how painful or joyful—and grow. By observing your past difficulties and the lifestyle of people who persevered through their difficulties, you will be inspired to keep on pressing on!

During certain times in life, everyone needs moments that can draw their attention and compel them to wake up; such moments usually occur when we least expect them to, whether we desire to experience them or not. Instead of waiting for them to occur, or wondering why they have occurred, we have to look for the opportunities that such moments provide.

Don’t wallow in your misfortune; don’t keep on wondering why a certain experience has crossed your path; instead of regretting, act by making the most of your obstacle, and turn it from an obstacle into an opportunity.

Your Life is Speaking—Listen; Don’t Blindly Follow the Whims of the World

Just because you have the opportunity to become a medical doctor or astronaut, doesn’t mean you should! Just because you can become anything, doesn’t mean you should become anything—just for the sake of it! Destiny has placed a responsibility on each person, to not only do whatever they are capable of doing, but most importantly, to do what they are meant to do.

Most of us start the day by doing what every other person is doing or doing the things that our eyes first get in contact with, but we haven’t always been able to decide or do what we are actually meant to do. Your calling or destiny goes beyond just doing anything, or just following the whims of the world; it calls into question your inner potential which may be active or latent; so, don’t just tell your life what you want to do—listen to what it actually wants to do with you!

A lot of people, especially those who are well-to-do, wander through life without knowing their purpose, or what they are meant to do; they blindly follow the whims of the world—wherever the winds of other people’s whims take them. Some of them believe that those who reach their potential have extraordinary talents or gifts. But the lives of many people have proven that pursuing one’s calling or destiny isn’t reserved only for certain people.

Pursue Your Calling or Destiny by Listening to Your Own Life

What is the best way to start pursuing your calling or destiny? The best way to start is by listening to your own life. This is good advice that was given by Frederick Buechner, an author who was a schoolteacher in one part of his life, and a minister in another. He observed that finding one’s call or destiny has more to do with one’s awareness and less to do with following the whims of the world, or just doing anything for doing sake!

When one’s level of awareness is high, it becomes easier to listen to their life speak; it becomes easier for one’s calling or destiny to come through. If anyone lives with an awareness that is highly alert, then boredom, pain, excitement, happiness, and any experience can end up being a key moment—and thus proving that all things work together for good!

Awareness has to be cultivated, or else, it will likely not be experienced. If anyone gains awareness by paying attention to their lives and the lessons it teaches them, then that person will find their calling or destiny, and won’t feel lost. Each experience (inconvenience, success, challenge, setback, frustration, etc.) will have more meaning—and as one listens this way, their life will speak!

With high awareness, your calling, destiny or life may call you late in the night or early in the morning, and tell you what you are supposed to do with your talents, gifts, abilities, and passions. Your calling or destiny can help you understand what has happened to you, and why; also, it can give you guidance. In addition, it can open up a whole new world for you, a world you have never considered before. All you need to do is listen and have awareness.

Not All Types of Fear are Bad

Fear has two sides to it. Fear can work as a deterrent, and can also serve as an effective motivator: there are bad types of fear and good types of fear. Generally, not all types of fear are bad.

If we are not careful, we could allow fear to run our lives. Many of us avoid risk because of fear and hope that by avoiding fear we can minimize our chances of failing, and thereby help ourselves move in the right direction of our destinies. We need to know when to avoid fear, and when to make good use of it!

Stephen Hawking: Lived Life to the Fullest Despite His Constraints & Limitations

Our lives are haunted by the ghosts of what could be, or what might have been. No matter the fears we are haunted by, there will always come a crucial moment when we must choose to become something that’s more than a bystander—and this could require us to make good use of fear as a motivator, instead of a deterrent. Crucial moments mostly happen in the mind before they unfold in real life.

If you genuinely feel you have a calling and believe in it, you must be willing to cast away all fear, step out, do what needs to be done, and see what happens: do your best and leave the rest in GOD’s great hands.

So, use fear as a motivator and go out to search for what your calling requires you to search for; if you don’t do so, you will feel unsatisfied and frustrated, especially if you see how other people use fear in a good way to succeed, while you might look at them and think they have luck or some kind of unfair advantage. Don’t allow such thoughts to deceive you.

Although some people might be lucky or born with special privileges, you still have a calling that you need to put all fears aside and answer.

What If You Can’t Achieve Your Desires, or Don’t Like What Life Throws at You?

Some people believe they can accomplish whatever they set their hearts on doing. Many people haven’t been able to accomplish what they set their hearts on doing. In the end, though, even a number of the most successful people have realized that getting everything you want doesn’t always attract happiness.

Take a look at the world today: it seems a few people have much more control over their lives than many other people. Regardless of whether you have control over your life, or don’t like what life throws at you, you can control the way you react to any situation; how you react to situations can make a big difference in your life because, generally, life is much more than just getting whatever you want, and accepting whatever life throws at you.

It will be difficult to be your best self if you are fulfilling someone else’s dream instead of chasing your dreams. This is the major reason why more and more people keep on moving from one job or relationship to another, trying their best to find happiness, but failing miserably; quitting one thing for the promise of something better, only to find disappointment in the next job or relationship after discovering that it is more complicated than the one they escaped from.

If we want to be satisfied in all directions, and regardless of whether we achieve our desires or not, we have to rise above the pettiness of our desires, and do what life requires of us. A general sense of fulfillment comes in every direction when we are ready to embrace pain instead of avoiding it.

What determines your fate is not how successful you are at avoiding difficulties, but what you do when they come

It’s quite unfortunate that tragedies are inevitable; it’s so unfortunate that we live in a world where bad things happen to good people, regardless of the good they do, and what they wish for. What determines our destiny is how we react to hardship when it comes. Although pain and suffering can be very intimidating obstacles, they are not strong enough to keep your spirit from achieving its purpose. In fact, pain and suffering can sometimes be powerful catalysts for making great discoveries and helping you see your real purpose in life.

There is Great Relief in Letting Go of What Could Have Been

It’s a waste of time to continue thinking about what could have been. What could have been does not matter as much as where you presently are, and where you are heading to.

Dwelling on what could have been only holds people back from living fully in the present and moving ahead into the future which is always there for the taking.

Life is full of surprises and will continue to be full of surprises; therefore, it’s of no help fixing your mind on regrets about the past: it’s not useful to try and recover what has been lost when you can gain far more than all that you’ve ever lost.

“What could have happened if…?”. Well, in the eyes of the future, what could have happened doesn’t and wouldn’t matter much. Okay, what about thinking the other way and asking: “what would not have happened if…?”. Now, that’s a completely different question.

Have the mindset of “ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD”. Look for the good that could come out of things if they either happen, or don’t happen.

If some things happen, there might be no new foundations or directions. If some things don’t happen, we might not be able to learn and encourage others: if some things don’t happen to us, more people might not be able to look at our own lives and gain strength or motivation to face the challenges in their own lives.

Everything that happens in your life matters: your life has a lot of significance: Each person has the power to make a great story out of their life if they start to see difficulties as opportunities

Value whatever is happening in your life now; no matter how difficult it is, it is important. Make the most of your life right now instead of waiting for the right opportunity. Do not concentrate on what you’ve ended up achieving when your life doesn’t look like how you planned it to be.

Many people have had disappointments, setbacks, and unexpected surprises that have disrupted the way they thought life should be. Many people have been in situations where they thought their life was messed up, and lacked purpose or meaningfulness.

The difference between people who have achieved something remarkable, and people who haven’t, has more to do with mindset and less to do with the circumstances or negative situations. Although it is true that we might not be able to control what life throws at us, we can actually control how we react to what life throws at us.

The better we learn how to react to what life throws at us, the more we will be able to achieve a life that could be more meaningful life than any plan would ever attract to us. In order to achieve a more meaningful life, we have to let go of what could have been; we have to let go of what we think we deserve; we have to embrace what we have in the moment because can lead us to something better than we could ever have imagined.

Pay Attention to Your “Still Small Voice” No Matter How Noisy the World Becomes

No matter how noisy the world around you becomes, and no matter how busy you are, there would always be a still small voice that whispers to you in quieter moments, reminding you about the life you should live, whether you have lived it, or are yet to live it. Regardless of the circumstances around you, if you listen hard enough, you will still be able to hear that still small voice.

You Were Born Not To Be Misled Into Doing Something Unimportant To You

When you started becoming conscious at a certain point in life, you likely believed you were born to do something important; however, something happened: school or college came calling; your parents encouraged you to become a lawyer; your uncle told you that becoming a medical doctor would be the best thing for you, rather than following your heart to become what your still small voice continuously encouraged you to become. In fact, when the “real life” started, you gave up on your still small voice and abandoned your dreams altogether because other people made you believe that you had to grow up and be what they thought you should become.

Other people made you believe you were immature and selfish until you began to doubt yourself and wonder whether your beliefs and still small voice were genuine in the first place.

Many People Give Excuses For Not Going After What They Were Born To Become

Yes, many people give excuses for not listening to their still small voice: they give excuses for not going after what they believe they were born to achieve.

There will always be a way for you to do something meaningful which wouldn’t force you to conform to other people’s beliefs or interests. The more human history is enlarging, the more we are beginning to realize that the way things were done in the past no longer works. Things in the world are demanding a fresh approach, and we need something new—everyone needs to go back to their still small voice. There is more to life than what is happening to you.

Many times in life you have to trust your gut—that still small voice—and do what is uncomfortable and likely painful; but the more you move ahead, the more there will be signs along the way, and there will be markers to indicate that you are heading in the right direction. Each person can find their life’s purpose; even though it may be uncomfortable and chaotic, something valuable will emerge from the discomfort and chaos. If you follow your still small voice, be patient and persevere, you will find something important which you can be proud of.

The greatest wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing (The inspiring story of Socrates.)

Naturally, when anybody opens up their mind to absorb more knowledge or learn anything, they become more knowledgeable—and in many instances, wiser! This is exactly what part of the title of this article means, especially when knowledge is gained on the platform of “knowing nothing”—or, at least, “knowing little”.

A lot of wise people have lived on the Earth and vanished from it. Many of them left their mark, but there is one person whose story and status as one of the wisest people ever, will continue to ring strong inspiring bells in the heart of humanity—Socrates!

The major problem in today’s world, as it was during Socrates’ time in ancient Greece, was that many people who were regarded as elites, professionals, or philosophers, “knew quite a lot”—but didn’t know as much as Socrates had presumed they knew prior to the time he interviewed them and interacted with them intellectually.

Socrates was a common man who came from a poor background and lived in Athens of ancient Greece. He lived during a time when human beings believed so much in nature spirits whom they worshipped and called “gods”.

Socrates was not well-bred; this made him a bit disadvantaged during his times; he wasn’t considered to be among the “elite class” neither. He was a polite man who—unlike the elites, professionals, and philosophers—offered his services for free. He didn’t care much about being popular; he didn’t start or establish any school like the philosophers who lived after his time.

The beginning: How Socrates arrived at the conclusive and popular statement: “The greatest wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing”

Along the journey of life, many people come across a lot of statements and beliefs and are taught a lot of things that “might” or “might not” be true. Many people accept whatever they are told or informed, but this was never the case with Socrates.

Socrates was always inquisitive about everything and never accepted anything as true until he could prove or disprove it by himself; even the oracle at Delphi—the oracle of the ancient Greek gods—couldn’t convince him that he was the wisest person during his time.

Actually, Socrates started gaining popularity in the ancient world when the powerful oracle of Delphi declared that he was the wisest man alive. When this information spread around like wildfire, everybody wanted to know who Socrates was—even the people who had already known him as an inquisitive person who was never fed up with asking about the why, when, where, how of everything.

How would someone so inquisitive and thirsty for knowledge be the wisest man alive? How could that be? How? While people were trying to know more about Socrates, he was already busy questioning the oracle’s judgement and proclamation, and asking why he was the wisest man in the whole wide world. In fact, when he received the news, he called himself a fool—but the oracle still insisted that he was the wisest person!

The overly inquisitive Socrates was confused. Why? In terms of reputation and records, he had none; he was a novice, and nowhere near the elevated heights of the elites, professionals, philosophers, or popular Sophists of his time. On the other hand, his earthly reputation didn’t change the reputation that the lofty gods had concerning him; they esteemed him to be the wisest person, and that was the end of the discussion—the oracle of Delphi would say no more! For it had spoken as loud and as clear as usual.

Socrates’ personal search for the truth led to his conclusion that “The greatest wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing”

As Socrates saw it, in terms of reputation and records, which the society held and still holds in high esteem, he really knew nothing at all. Socrates wouldn’t accept the oracle’s judgment; so he made a strong decision to find out why the oracle of Delphi declared he was the wisest man when the politicians and most elite people of the day didn’t even know he existed.

He made up his mind to continue being as skeptical as he used to be about everything prior to the declaration of the oracle. In order to be convinced, he decided to make it his life’s mission to put the judgment of the oracle to test. To do this, he started interviewing the greatest and most elite people in ancient Greece, and assess the type of wisdom they had. He wanted to know what stuff they were made of.

Socrates knew that if he could convincingly find someone who was wiser than himself, he would be able to disprove the wise oracle for the first time ever. In all reality, the oracle at Delphi was very powerful and believed to have never failed when making judgments or declarations.

Years later he came to a wise conclusion which is a grand lesson for all humanity

After interviewing the first person who happened to be an elite politician, Socrates concluded that—although the politician and many people thought that he (the politician) was wise—the politician was not really wise.

In fact, after the interview, as Socrates was walking away from the politician, he reflected in his thoughts: “Well, I am certainly wiser than this man. It is only too likely that neither of us has any knowledge to boast of; but he thinks that he knows something which he does not know, whereas I am quite conscious of my ignorance…it seems that I am wiser than he is to this small extent—that I do not think that I know what I do not know.”

It was based on this insight that Socrates used to approach future interviews, and mold his unique foundation for philosophy. The masses, and the politician whom Socrates interviewed, believed that the politician was wise and knew enough to be regarded as a wise man.

Yet, after having a conversation with the man, Socrates came to the conclusion that the politician overestimated the level of knowledge and wisdom he (the politician) possessed. In addition, the politician pretended to know things that he didn’t really know much or anything about.

In many aspects of life, the politician was regarded as being intellectually superior to Socrates, but Socrates found out that the man foolishly assumed that he knew many other things, and that his assumptions gave him the privilege to assume things beyond his specialization or subject domain.

Certainly, this type of mentality is not the hallmark of true wisdom. Maybe if King Solomon or Jesus Christ lived during the time of Socrates, and Socrates had visited them, he might have been able to disprove the oracle’s judgment because of the history of their profound wisdom—this is a subject for discussion which would be suitable for another day.

Socrates compared his wisdom with that of the politician and further concluded that he was wiser than the politician, and not because he knew more than the politician, but because, unlike the politician, he (Socrates) knew that there were many things that he (Socrates) didn’t know, and he (Socrates) admitted!

Every day afterward, Socrates discovered that many elite people pretended to know what they had no knowledge of

To Socrates’ surprise, other politicians and elite people with the highest reputation (whom he later interviewed) were almost completely deficient of real wisdom; also, many people who had much lesser reputations were much wiser than the so-called “highly reputable elites” of the society.

It got to a point that Socrates lost belief he would ever find a wise person. Even poets of his time, when questioned, couldn’t convincingly state the meaning of the poems they wrote. When asked many questions, the poets were just as arrogant as the politicians.

With time, Socrates observed that the whole society was making a mistake by assuming that people who had a certain specialty were “wise” or “elite”. He began to believe that it was wrong to assume that people who had success or a special talent, were generally wise, or geniuses.

Socrates was perplexed by how people carried themselves so high as if they possessed all the knowledge in the world; worst still, when questioned, most of them weren’t capable of proving that they had certain knowledge they indirectly claimed to have.

Socrates discovered a lot when trying to disprove the oracle’s declaration that he was the wisest man of his time: everywhere he turned to, he found presumptuous and arrogant elite people who were only pretending to be wise, but didn’t have “real wisdom”.

Finally, Socrates believed that there was nothing spectacular about the wisdom he possessed—even though he had come to the conclusion that other people were not a wise as they claimed to be

At the end of Socrates’ attempt to disprove the oracle—which he couldn’t—he started believing that the oracle could be right after all; but even so, there wasn’t anything interesting about his wisdom that one should be too excited about.

He felt that, although other people liked to exaggerate what they knew, and showed off their wisdom, he wasn’t necessarily wiser than them. He started asking himself:

  • What if being wise means not having enough knowledge, and admitting that one doesn’t have enough knowledge?
  • What if being wise means not having enough knowledge, and being aware of one’s limitations?
  • What if being wise means finding out how much one does not know?
  • What if the wisest person on Earth didn’t necessarily have all or sufficient knowledge, but was someone who had the courage to admit that he knew very little, or nothing?

Conclusion

It is very likely that the powerful and real-life oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece was right from the very beginning when it had proclaimed that Socrates was the wisest man of his age, regardless of the fact that he was a nobody in society, and was a novice who was nowhere near the level of the so-called elite class of his time.

Whatever the oracle truly meant—which is not so clear—Socrates wanted to get clarity about it, and pursue it to the latter end; and he did with all humility, simplicity, and honesty. Socrates critically addressed the things that people think they know and what they really know—these are two different things that people always mix together and cause a lot of disharmony in the society—sometimes, leading to a fake society.

It is true that when compared to universal knowledge (knowledge of the universe, or knowledge of everything), we don’t know much at all; only GOD does! However, this shouldn’t stop us from exploring and learning more without being boastful or excessively assuming.

10 important things you should “do” and 10 others you should “not do” in order to be contented and successful in life

Where do you think you will be in the next three or five years? Probably, you could be in the most beautiful city having fun with family or friends; or maybe, you could be on an Island you had longed desired to visit since you were a kid. If we take fortune out of the scenario, the plans and actions you take today will go a long way in determining the extent to which you will be contented and successful future.

To a great extent, your success lies in your hands. Regardless of how many definitions people have for contentment and success, contentment and success actually depend a lot on what you define them to be. Your definitions might differ a lot from the definitions of other people.

What makes you contented and successful in life is personal to you. Your siblings, partner, parents, and friends might have their own definitions of contentment and success, but their definitions will always remain their own; they aren’t meant for you! Whatever makes or will make you feel contented, happy and successful, is what your definition of contentment and success should be.

Being contented and successful isn’t necessarily about having all the riches in the world, or winning every award. Actually, it’s all about personal fulfillment. One person might feel contented and successful traveling around the world, while another person might feel contented and successful pursuing their own passion in a country, city, or even a small village.

Although we might not always be able to give an all-encompassing definition of contentment and success, history has shown that there are certain things that can give and maximize one’s level of contentment and success, and make one more contented, productive, happy, and successful.

Generally, there are some things you must do, and others you must not do—“do not”:

10 important things you should do in order to be contented and successful

(1) Find what you like doing and engage in it

Oprah Winfrey once made a statement that has become a very popular quote: “You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job and not be paid for it”. In order words, if you would be happy doing your job without receiving payment, then you are on the road to success. If you don’t like something, then you would be wasting your time engaging in it.

(2) Always be positive and think big

It might be difficult to always feel big or great, but it will always be great to feel great. The danger most of us will ever face will arise because of our inability to think positively, and think big. Many people fall too short of their expectations because, from the very beginning, they aimed too low and were consistently negative along the way. Don’t always put away your dreams because of negativity, or because you want to follow an easier route that leads to nowhere. Have faith and unwavering thoughts that you will succeed!

(3) Balance or harmonize your work together with your life

Success could become as boring as it usually does whenever people concentrate or engage too much in what they like, and to such an extent that it takes over all other interesting things in their lives—they make their work or dreams take over their life instead of harmonizing the two together by providing time for both work and life. Don’t spend countless hours on your work or dreams to the detriment of your entire life.

(4) Be consistently active—always be willing to work

Every now and then, give yourself a task to do—be active! If we think about all the great achievements that a number of men and women accomplished and make this world a much better place, we will appreciate the benefits of being active and sticking to commitments. Leonardo da Vinci once said something like this: “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and made things happen”.

(5) Be courageous enough to follow your intuition and take risks

If you strongly believe and desire to achieve something, then you might have a faint idea about what to do in order to materialize it. When you have sufficient belief and perception, no matter how little, don’t be afraid to take a step (or necessary steps) to get things going. Generally, you have to trust your own instincts in many areas of life.

(6) Establish positive relationships

The best societies, organizations, and institutions are the ones that have or cultivate positive relationships which lead to productivity and success. The best types of leaders or people have always been those who never cause commotions, and didn’t fight with people; they were friendly to everyone around them, and people liked them for their friendly nature.

(7) Always have faith—believe that you have the ability to succeed

Success depends a lot on how much imagine yourself achieving something(s)—achieving the unseen! In life you will always come across people who will doubt your abilities and give you reasons why you won’t achieve your goals and desires, most especially when you are yet to take a step; but regardless of what they think, do, or say, keep on having faith in your own abilities; then one day your hidden potential will come to light much to your utter surprise!

(8) Always educate yourself

We all know the popular wise words: “knowledge is power”. Indeed, knowledge is really powerful, and probably more than power too. Educating yourself with knowledge and skills could enhance your potential. In terms of financial success, studies have shown that the more knowledgeable or educated one is, the more like they are to make money. Not all types of education have to be formal; one can be educated on anything that can bring contentment and success.

(9) Set boundaries with certain types of people

Generally, be loving, caring, and have open arms, but don’t accept disrespect and abuse from people who normally emit negative vibes. The world has very odd and negative people, and it’s better to know when and how to handle some of their excesses which could infect you in the long run when you don’t straighten things out and early enough.

(10) Always be ready for the unexpected—anything can happen tomorrow

As long as you live, do all you can to acquire knowledge and understand how things work, but always keep this thought in mind: no amount of knowledge or understanding can take away the unexpected circumstances that each person will inevitably face tomorrow. Always have a Plan B in mind in case the unexpected happens.

10 important things you should not do in order to be contented and successful

(1) Don’t blame other people whenever things don’t work

Everyone will be able to taste true success if they put down their garments of excuses, stop making excuses, and start being accountable for most of the things they blame other people for. Most people have the tendency to blame others, and this usually delays collective progress.

(2) Don’t doubt yourself—don’t be afraid of failure

Your level of confidence today will continue to play a huge role in how contented or successful you will be in the future. Confidence in yourself can take you to the next level even when you are yet to achieve your dreams. Don’t pay attention to doubts. Whenever you feel discouraged, concentrate on positivity and ignore discouragement and doubt.

(3) Don’t put important things off

It can be difficult to change. Self-improvement and self-development are not always easy to initiate and do successfully. When things are difficult, it becomes easier to keep them for another day. Stop procrastinating, and start putting those important pieces together. To be contented and succeed at the highest level, you must stop putting off important things.

(4) Don’t think that you don’t have a choice

Regardless of any circumstance, there will always be a choice. Sometimes you might even have to choose between two things that look equally average, below average, or even bad. However, there will still be a chance to make a choice. In any situation, don’t sell your soul!

(5) Don’t always continue doing the same thing and expecting a different result—use new ideas

Although many people are aware that two plus two will always be equal to four, they waste all their determination and energy to make two plus two equal to five, or a number that’s much higher—this is illogical and unnatural! Albert Einstein said—and I agree—that insanity means “doing the same thing and expecting a different result”. The truth of the matter is that in many areas of life, if you keep using one approach, you will continue to get the same results, no matter how much you hope for something else.

(6) Don’t expect everything to always work out precisely the way want

People can be untrustworthy, and nature does things whenever or however it likes; so nothing is completely certain—this has been the way of the world since the beginning. Don’t trust anyone completely, and don’t always expect people to love or help you. On the other hand, do all you can to make things work, and leave the rest in the hands of people and Mother Nature. Note that everything will not always work out on its own; be creative and take responsibility for yourself.

(7) Don’t say “yes” when you are supposed to say “no”

The Christian Bible says, “let your yes be yes, and your no be no”. When you say “yes” to one thing, then at the same time you would be saying “no” to others. If you say yes to academics and examinations, then you must say no to “playing around consistently”. The major problem in our society today is that saying “no” is a great challenge for many people, and this has caused a lot of problems in organizations, businesses, and relationships because saying “yes” has led to lots of disasters. In many instances, refrain from using comments like “I am not certain”, “I might not be able to”, etc.

(8) Don’t mismanage your finances

Regardless of your income or how much you make, if you manage your money, your financial stability will be ensured and maintained over a long period of time. Keep track of your expenses in order to have insight and prevent overspending—or spending on irrelevant things. Take a critical look at your expenses in order to be sure your finances are not wasting.

(9) Do not compare your life with the lives of other people

It is quite unfortunate that many people measure their progress or success in life by comparing their lives with that of other people who live around or far away from them. Many people have the tendency to compare the negatives in their lives with the positives in the lives of other people. Instead of comparing yourself with people who are better off than you, think about all the homeless, poor, and severely ill people whom you are better off than—count your blessings! If you want to start feeling contented and successful, value your own life and the things you have, great or small.

(10) Don’t live in the past—live in the present, and concentrate on the future

There could be a lot of benefits gained from looking at past successes, and getting inspiration from them; however, one should be careful because if it gets to one’s head, it could make one become stagnant and not move ahead to achieve more success. Also, if one concentrates on a negative past, they could become much more negative and not achieve anything substantial in the future.

How to lose weight fast by thinking thin

Contrary to what many people think, the foundation of success for any weight loss plan, program, or procedure starts in the brain, not outside of it. Many studies have shown that when certain people stick to a diet, it works; on the other hand, the same (or other types) diets don’t work on a long-term basis for other people.

Advances in psychological studies have proven that—like success—thoughts also govern the outcome of weight loss plans, programs, or procedures. Very experienced psychologists have succeeded in developing and applying mental strategies or tricks to help people who have not been successful at dieting or weight loss programs because of the type of passion and emotions they have for food.

Many people love to eat and find it difficult to say no to the type of rich foods and chocolaty desserts that usually end up harming a lot of people’s bodies. Many people are constantly faced with the temptation to watch the sorts of foods they eat, and the quantities they consume.

At the end of the day, many people end up being unsuccessful with the weight loss programs they once planned to adhere to. If such is your experience, then you may need to work with a psychotherapist, trained psychologist, or diet coach.

What is “thinking thin”?—The science of “thinking thin”

“As you think, so you are”—The Christian Bible. “Thinking thin” simply means having the mindset or mentality of someone whose weight is either thin, slim or just okay—not fat. “Being fat” depends a lot on how one thinks, feels, and handles everything associated with it.

The easiest way to lose weight fast is by thinking thin: you can think thin to lose weight

One’s psychology about weight will have an impact on how they go about gaining weight, maintaining weight, or losing weight. People who struggle to lose weight have a completely different mindset from those who are thin or slim, or just okay with their weight!

The people who enjoy food and eat it whenever they like, have a very different mentality from those who believe they have to consistently monitor what they eat, and control their food intake.

The mentality of thin people—people who “think thin”

Many studies have shown that thin people eat intuitively: they only eat when they are hungry, and they stop once their stomach is full. If thin people are not hungry, then they won’t eat. It’s as simple as that for them!

Those who succeed at thinking thin without any qualms are used to eating when their stomach feels somewhere between “slightly hungry” and “hungry”. Also, they usually don’t eat when their stomach is somewhere between “almost satisfied” and “full”.

On the other hand, people who struggle to control their weight and adhere to weight loss programs, usually force themselves to control what they eat—they consciously and consistently have to monitor what they eat.

Subconsciously or consciously, thin people can differentiate between “desire” and “real hunger”

When people who think thin see something that looks tasty, they first assess and check whether they are really hungry or not before taking a decision to eat. People who think thin don’t give into unnecessary cravings for food, especially excess of it.

People who think thin are able to easily resist the temptation to distract themselves from a diet or tolerate food cravings without giving in. Why? Because they are always perceptive to the obvious fact that—like hunger—food cravings will pass away with the passage of time!

Behind every change in behavior, there’s a lot of change in thinking: you can use the psychology of real weight loss to succeed in losing or controlling weight

If you are the type of person who finds it difficult to adhere to diets or weight loss programs—you struggle to control what you eat—then there is one very powerful thing you can do to turn everything around: “think like a thin people”, and use the psychology of real weight loss to succeed in losing or controlling weight.

In most cases when it’s difficult to change one’s mindset and start thinking like thin people, then that’s the perfect time to seek the help of a psychotherapist, trained psychologist, or diet coach.

A successful thinking thin program for you

Psychotherapists or trained psychologists have an understanding of weight loss that is different from what the majority of people believe. The experienced ones believe that weight loss doesn’t depend much on what people eat; they believe that it depends on why people eat, and how they eat.

A clear and complete understanding of the mindset of a thin person is crucial and can help anyone change how they handle or deal with food, and control the physical outlook of their body.

If you find it hard controlling your weight and how you eat, there is a highly recommendable program that can work for you the same way it has worked for two individuals I know.

By the time you finish the program, you will have the ability to start “thinking thin”, and both weight loss and control would look easy and natural—not genetic, or based on one’s fast rate of metabolism!

Click here, read more, and subscribe to the package which has helped thousands of people, as reviews have shown!

Thinking thin will make you slim down and remain slim—use it to re-train your brain, and lose weight naturally

Are you fed up being unsuccessful with your weight loss battle? Would you like to get used to thinking the way slim people think—by “thinking thin”? Always remember that you have the same willpower that “thinking-thin” people have, even though it seems unfair that you can’t control your weight or how you eat at the moment.

Your Outcome in Life Is Determined By What You Believe in: Faith or Fact

In the Christian Bible, 2nd Corinthians 5:7 says: “For we walk by faith: not by sight”. The literal meaning of the above scripture is that we are meant to live our lives, have high hopes, and carry out actions on the basis of faith, which can be referred to as ultimate and unseen reality. Having a heart to achieve things in life shouldn’t be governed only by the things we see with our physical eyes; it should go beyond that and be governed more by the unseen. “Faith”, which can be referred to as “ultimate truth”, belongs to the spiritual world, while “facts” are only limited to the physical world which we see with our eyes. Faith is superior to, and stronger than fact! Fact is temporal and changeable but faith (truth) is eternal and unchangeable. Even history has shown that fact can become untrue, even without divine or supernatural intervention. For example, it was a fact some time ago that malaria had no cure, and many people died because of it; but that is no longer the case today.

In the past, it was considered a fact that iron could neither fly nor float: but today, heavy tons of iron (in steel form) are floating and flying from one part of the world to the other in the form of ships and aircraft, carrying both people and cargo wherever they wish to go to. In the past, there were no drugs for the cure of several diseases, but today there are so many types of drugs. If time can alter fact, how much more will your faith instantly destroy some things that are considered as fact today! Despise all facts, and rather believe in the truth. Your physical experiences or that of other people should not guide your life’s journey. Believe in the ultimate truth about the supernatural ability that God gave man to turn unfavorable circumstances into favorable ones. Allow your faith and belief to guide you towards your God-given destiny.

The scripture in Romans 10: 17, the Christian Bible says: “The just shall live by faith”. This faith is based on how God sees ease and solutions to every situation and difficulty in this physical world. The scripture didn’t say that the just shall live by experience, night dreams, personal wisdom, skill, or expertise! It said that the just shall live by faith! Many people elevate their experience, personal wisdom, and skills above faith, ultimate truth, and belief in the power of God—to an extent that they constantly live in the realm of frustration and dissatisfaction. We have stated that ultimate truth is superior to fact, and a lot of people know that the real battle of a man lies between fact and ultimate truth (faith). What is the difference between them? Well, fact is a natural reality which has evidence only to the physical senses; i.e. you can see, hear, feel, smell or touch it. On the other hand, faith (or ultimate truth) is supernatural or spiritual reality; and this reality is not always obvious to the body’s senses, i.e. you might not be able to sense faith physically, but it’s real. The fact might be that based on experience and expertise, there would be no hope, but the truth (faith) says: “launch out your heart with hope” and in many instances where faith was strong, the truth prevailed. Allow the truth to prevail in your life!

Stephen Hawking: lived life to the fullest despite his constraints and limitations

It’s quite common to see people live with different types of physical and spiritual constraints that either incapacitate them and makes them become so weary and weak to such a point that they lose all hope; on the other hand, it could invigorate them and make them become highly competitive and productive individuals.

It’s a sad fact that despite the wealth and abundance some people enjoy in the absence of disabilities or challenges, they still remain hopeless and unproductive! Their life proves the fact that life isn’t always what it seems to be from the outside—and yes, life is always what it is from the inside.

It is only from the inside that we can overcome

You can overcome all the limitations and constraints that engulf you if you muster enough inner strength, develop unwavering faith, and tap into your unlimited potential.

No matter how difficult life is—even if you have been to the brink—you have to keep on focussing on how to apply the combination of your abilities, constraints, and opportunities, and always remain flexible in your pursuit of what is important in the real world.

The resilience and productivity of Stephen Hawking in the midst of physical odds and constraints

Stephen Hawking was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who produced an extraordinary amount of work even though he had motor neuron disease.

He was almost completely paralyzed and communicated through a speech-generating device which made his thoughts comprehensible to interested hearers who were always ready to listen to the interesting things he said.

Stephen Hawking might have appeared to be handicapped and doomed to live an unproductive life—but no; in the midst of his physical constraints, he explored and unveiled some of the secrets and wonders of the universe.

Yes, it is true that he wasn’t able to move around by himself. And yes, it’s also true that he needed assistance; however, despite the obstacles and assistance he was given, he continued to explore the stars and utilized his opportunity to study, think and write books.

The constant and never-decreasing desire to know more about the universe remained his compulsion and passion. Stephen Hawking had a very clear and undimmed idea of what he wanted despite facing limitations that would normally make many people unproductive for a lifetime.

We can all learn from the faith, zeal, courage, hard work, and resilience of Stephen Hawking!

Don’t restrict your thinking—learn to think from outside the box

It can be surprising to see simplicity in solutions to the puzzles and problems of life when they are exposed before our naked eyes or understanding—or when they are revealed to us.

After seeing simplicity in solutions, we might even feel sad not to be the ones to discover or offer for them when people need them the most.

Learn to look at your challenges and life from outside the box, not inside

A great obstacle rises against most people when they take their past experiences of hardships and defeats, put them right at the front of their mind’s eye, and continuously concentrate on them.

Why waste your time envisioning the future based on experiences of defeats from the past? If you waste time concentrating and making use of the negatives of the past, you will end up restricting your future to the scars of the past.

With a restricted view of life, the best future we can have would likely be a shadow of what our great future is supposed to be.

Strong motivational energy is often produced when we look at life and challenges from outside the box

If we develop the habit of looking at life and difficulties from outside the box, we will begin to see that the possibilities for great creative ideas are endless.

On the other hand, if we restrict ourselves to thinking from inside the box, we will likely slip into negativity and pessimism because we’ve made up our minds and bottled it up to see life in only a few directions instead of many boundless directions.

Slipping into pessimism will drive us into the realm of thinking much less efficiently than we are greatly capable of. Pessimists usually procrastinate and set their problems aside; they think about something so negatively that they end up doing nothing at all.

Whenever you feel negative, pessimistic, or overwhelmed, remember that you can always think from outside the box

The more you think positively about a situation, the more you will develop the ability and insight to think from outside the box and see opportunities for action.

And the more you see little actions to take, the more strong motivational energy you will generate and store for immediate and future use.

Why you always have the ability to develop new insights & change your state of mind for the better

If you were to move around and ask hundreds of people how long they haven’t been happy, you’d get dozens of different answers that would either fall into the basket of happiness or the basket of unhappiness.

With the level of hardship and sorrows in today’s world, it won’t be surprising to get answers such as: “I haven’t been unhappy for a whole month”, or “I haven’t been unhappy for three months”, “I haven’t been happy for six months”, etc., etc., etc.

If you go a bit further and ask the same people (who claimed not to be happy for a long period of time) if they literally meant what they said, you’d be surprised to hear that they’ve had some happy moments in between the time period they earlier claimed not to be happy.

Our states of mind are temporary—thoughts are the most powerful assets we have at our disposal

The way each person thinks at any moment in time can have a profound impact on their reasoning and the type of reaction or answer(s) they would give if they are asked questions.

The predominant thought at the moment could make you say things that are literally untrue if you look deeper than the moment. If each person makes a bold decision and selects their thoughts, they can always develop new insights at any time and change their state of mind for the better.

What has most often been overlooked is the obvious fact that our predominant thoughts at the moment—conscious or subconscious—are the same ones that manipulate our experiences and lives from behind the scenes.

A clear mind will help you develop new insights, depending on your area(s) of interest in life

Naturally, regardless of the predominant thought (positive or negative) that you hold in your mind at a particular moment, it takes a few seconds before another one comes in—and as always—a new one, depending on your state of mind at the moment.

The truth of the matter is that our thoughts change all the time, and it possible for us to have between hundreds of thoughts and thousands of thoughts per day.

Also, we pay more attention to some thoughts than others which we might only give a few seconds of our concentration; this depends on what we are thinking about at a moment in time, and our ability to control our minds from the unceasing trend of endless thoughts that usually float around without restriction.

The more you leave those thoughts alone—especially negative ones—the clearer and healthier your thinking will be

It’s very true that thoughts can make someone age quicker, or look rejuvenated and more youthful. Because thoughts have a strong effect on the body, it would do us much good if we concentrate on new insights that consist of positive thoughts.

It’s quite okay to feel frustrated; however, feelings of frustration—which can be discarded if we make up our minds—always come as a result of the way we think regarding a situation, person, or thing.

Each person can always trace the reason behind their feelings—developing new insights can change the way we feel at the moment

Every conscious individual has a personal feedback system that can provide insight on why a certain feeling occupies their mind; this insight can always be accessed—it is always available!

The most successful people failed many times over but found always found ways to develop new insight(s) and move forward ever, backward never.

Always remember—never forget—that you always have the ability to develop new insights and change your state of mind for the better.

Before you venture into anything valuable, assess your values

While living in a world that is overshadowed by a powerful universe which cherishes values not often cherished on Earth, we have to be mindful of the values we hold in esteem whenever we want to venture into anything that is worthwhile!

Before you start anything, check whether your plan reflects any important values you would like your personality, business or brand to be associated with. Although most people’s or organizations’ values are tied with their goals and personal views or orientation about life, they can still work for them, and make a great difference in their activities.

People can come and go over the years, but your values should remain the same if they are good and highly valuable

Good values certainly have a strong spark of honesty and integrity rapped around them; so it is very important to get these qualities if you know you lack them; they can really make all the difference for you.

Everybody with a clear conscience surely knows what honesty and integrity both mean; these are qualities whose absence in any business can send the business straight to hell!

If you lack integrity, then it will be difficult to make people trust you

Your values will determine what you need to focus on much more than anything else. Every now and then, find out what is working, and what isn’t working, and weigh what needs to be reduced or discarded, and what needs to be increased.

This might sound easy to do, but it actually isn’t! In reality, it can be the most challenging thing to do—but at the end of the day, it will be worthwhile, and can bring your business high returns on investment (ROI).

When considering which values to select, always remember that is doesn’t always have to be about you; rather, it should be more about your friends, visitors, customers, or followers.

Whenever things become too difficult, just let them be—but whenever you can, don’t let things remain undone

Anyone who studies the events in history and around the world, would likely agree that when important things are left undone, they can slowly and abruptly lead to chaos.

But actually, how many things do we have the ability to get done? Not too many! We are only human and very much incapable of stretching ourselves beyond certain limits.

For example, we cannot do much to prevent the disaster handed out to some nations by the natural actions of tsunamis and earthquakes; neither can we do much to prevent the catastrophic actions of floods.

On the other hand, there are far too many things we can get done compared to the fewer things we can’t do—and that’s where our actions are needed in order to prevent future disorder and chaos.

When certain things overpower you, just let them be, and handover your concern to the highest power—GOD, or Mother Nature

When people cannot control or prevent a tsunami or earthquake from causing disasters, what usually happens? They either run away, or just let things be! Whenever you reach a point where you have to let things be, nature will do what is does, regardless of whether we take the result or aftermath in good faith, or bad faith.

When we leave many things (that are beyond our control) in the hands of the higher power, they usually become irreversible, but still turn into something more purposeful in the hands of the higher power—this is something that human beings cannot see on a short term.

For example, when people, plants and animals die, and there are cries here and there, no one sees a greater purpose thousands of years later when the same dead human, animal and plant bodies decay and turn into fossil fuel that will be used by future inhabitants of the same Earth that experienced death.

The point here isn’t to discourage people from crying for their love ones who have passed; rather, it is to enlighten people and encourage them to look far beyond their own physical existence and concerns!

Human beings and all living things are usually subjected to stresses that are beyond their limits—stresses that can make them leave things undone!

Oftentimes people go to great lengths or extents just to avoid or get away from pressure and stresses; on the other hand, embracing challenges will help you grow and depend more on the higher power; it will help you get used to the higher power which values life beyond this world (and everlasting life) much more than it values this short earthly life.

On the journey of eternal life, you must accept pressure and the obvious fact that there will always be things beyond your power to do—that’s when the higher power completely takes over!

For many successful people, the more they see their success in sight, the more productivity they maintain until the D-day! However, if they carried away by pressure and challenges without viewing things from GOD’s angle, they might fail to see any eternal lessons that can be learned!

A popular twentieth century philosopher, Buckminster Fuller, once stated: “You will never be given a task that you cannot handle…Your reward in life for learning the lesson is a bigger lesson”—you learn the bigger lessons of our future eternal life by learning the smaller lessons of this present short earthly life!

The phrase, “no pain, no gain” has much greater significance in the spiritual or eternal aspect of life than it does in the physical world, but many people don’t seem to be aware of it!

What to do if you really want to do something—do it with your whole heart

One we can delay our journey to success is by “not doing what ought to be done, wholeheartedly”, or not doing important things strong enough!

Many people lack the necessary zeal and vigor which are two useful servants of faith and unlimited potential or abilities: we don’t do what we know we’re supposed to do because we’re not sure we can accomplish it, even though it’s worthwhile.

At other times, we are not in a good mood and don’t have adequate amount of energy to do something well or wholeheartedly—and so we put it off, only to meet it another day and fight yet again!

Most times the heart doesn’t function with full force, or wholeheartedly. “Writer’s block” is a popular example of a restriction or mental pattern that causes people not to think and write wholeheartedly.

Writer’s block is an emotional or mental barrier that springs up in a writer’s mind, incapacitates them, and makes them unable to write what they truly love to write about.

Sometimes writer’s block can be so severe that a writer might have to visit a psychotherapist for help. Many writers have to overcome writer’s block before they can be able to make a living from writing.

If you don’t do something with your whole heart, you will likely become convinced that you can’t or won’t do many things well

By not doing something wholeheartedly, one might lose energy and motivation to do many things right away, even if they are generally easy to do.

Many people don’t actually need a psychotherapist; what they need is to understand how the mind works, especially when it loses motivation, or whenever there is any type of block.

The cure for procrastination or certain types of “blocks” is to go ahead and do what you want to do with your whole heart

The key to achieving something is to just to start doing it! The key to writing is to just start typing anything, even if will be the worst thing you will ever type—just start from somewhere!

In here book titled “Bird by Bird”, Novelist Anne Lamott stated: “Almost all good writings begin with terrible first efforts…you need to start somewhere. Start by getting something—anything—down on paper”.

By doing something wholeheartedly (with your whole heart), you will be able to disempower procrastination and pessimistic thoughts from taking control of your mind and thinking

If you are a writer, for example, the mere fact that you’ve taken action and started typing, is good enough to provide you with enough energy to achieve something valuable, no matter how slow you move.

Many people are incapable of summoning enough energy because they have become consciously or unconsciously afraid they won’t do things well. Whenever you are in the initial stages of doing something, use every little step or action to inspire yourself and move forward and upward ever, backward never.

In many ways, everybody is like a writer: “blocks” make us incapable of doing many things

It’s sad to see everybody with ideas, but only a few people getting their ideas worked upon and done; this is pitiful, especially when each person is really creative deep down within.

Everybody is very much capable of living a great life; however, many people are so afraid of ever doing anything to make it happen because they afraid they won’t be able to do things well.

Don’t be afraid. Once you believe you need to do something, just decide to put in all your best effort and start doing it with your whole heart—enjoy the motivation that would take over you when you start the process!

Great things are often created gradually, not overnight—the same applies to your self-development

Most people who are deeply inspired to achieve something great in life, usually set out with a strong desire, but don’t realize that changes in human habits and beliefs, which are almost always required, usually take time to occur because our subconsciousness (subconscious mind)—the bearer and storekeeper of all knowledge, powers, and abilities—isn’t naturally used to changing overnight.

The subconscious mind needs visualization, positivity, good suggestions, patience, and persistent belief in order to give it enough faith power that can effect many changes in habits and belief systems that have been ingrained over a period of time.

Because many people are impatient and want a quick-fire solution, they easily give up and remain their old selves

If one wishes to undergo effective self-development and change their habits, they always have to remember that great success, habits, qualities, and abilities are often created slowly.

Many people don’t usually see and appreciate the value in small changes

Small or gradual changes have a lot of value and importance which many people often overlook. Everything in life, especially food and many useful processes, are grown or processed gradually, but still end up becoming or producing great products, results and success.

Great things can be accomplished if we focus on one small action at a time

If you see yourself as a great masterpiece in progress, then you would instantly appreciate the small changes that occur in your journey of self-development.

Also, you would be contented with improving gradually rather than giving room for negativity due to impatience and feeling that everything important can be done overnight.

Any little thing you do, and each effort you put in today will excite and motivate you and give you the strength you need to progress in the long run and achieve your dreams.

Real life story on how hardship & challenges can help you travel deep down inside and find your true potential

It is quite common for people to leave things undone when they are supposed to do them and elevate themselves to a higher position. Many people who leave things undone, also don’t listen to good advice and recommendations from other people.

Generally, most of us procrastinate and forfeit the internal journey to our true potential. We must all travel that internal path that will certainly lead us to discover our true potential—if only we are serious about it.

Your true potential is your real and eternal identity that’s waiting to be motivated enough to come alive

The journey to self-discovery or true potential is one that every man and woman must take alone—by themselves—and in combination with the harmony between them and the universe which is their eternal home.

Some people who fail to find their true potential, consider themselves a failure at life’s calling because they’ve been unable to find their true potential.

The inspiring real-life story of Anthony Burgess: how hardship and challenges can actually help you find your true potential

Anthony Burgess (an English writer and composer) had found out that brain tumor would kill him in about a year’s time after he got the information.

It was a serious issue, and he knew that he had a major hardship and challenge on his shoulder like many people around the world usually do; but good enough, it wasn’t able to deter him from finding his true potential.

At the time, he was completely broke and didn’t have anything substantial to leave behind for his wife (Lynne) whom people assumed would soon become a widow.

Although Anthony Burgess had never been a practicing composer or novelist, he always had faith that he would write great works, even when it was claimed he would soon die

Faced by hardship, a great challenge, death, and a desire to leave behind money and royalties for his wife, Anthony Burgess began writing like many people do today.

Around 1960, he put a paper into a typewriter and began typing/writing; and although he wasn’t certain his work would be published, he couldn’t think about doing anything better with his life before dying.

According to his own words “It was January 1960, and according to prognosis (prediction of the course of the disease), I had a winter and spring and summer to live through, and would die with the fall of the leaf”.

Surprisingly, around that time Anthony Burgess wrote energetically like someone who had found their true potential; he ended up finishing five and a half novels before the year was over.

The amount of work produced by Anthony Burgess is nearly equal to the lifetime work of E. M. Forster, and almost twice the amount of work produced by J. D. Salinger.

Contrary to medical prognosis and wide-spread belief, Anthony Burgess didn’t die

While in the process of writing what many people would consider “the last writing of his life”, Anthony Burgess’ cancer had abated and vanished completely.

He ended up writing more than 70 books during his lifetime; however, without the death sentence from medical prognosis, he might not have had any hardship or challenge that would compel him to find his true potential.

Many people in the present-day are like Anthony Burgess—we need hardship and challenges to make us sit up and wear the crown of true potential

Greatness is silently sleeping within many people who actually need or deserve to be handed tough situations and a state of emergency that can awaken their true potential from slumber.

If we don’t learn to take advantage of the positives in hardship and challenges and see how crisis can inspire people’s best efforts and make them much better, then we will tend to create a life based on comfort, and not be challenged by anything.

If you have already located your true potential, don’t wait for something tragic or challenging to come your way before you get going with your true potential. Use your true potential to challenge yourself from within.

We all think a bit negatively but positive thinkers know how to win their personal debates against negativity

The battle of the mind—or the battle between negative and positive thoughts—is something that will continue to go on and on as long as human life continues existing on this Earth.

No matter how optimistic a person might be, times and circumstances could arise and make them think a bit negatively about something which they had previously thought positively about.

Positivity or optimism could dwindle: we all do a little bit of negative thinking at times!

However, the difference between a person who is “majorly optimistic” and someone who is “majorly pessimistic” is that the majorly optimistic person knows how to win their personal debates over negativity

Predominant positive thinkers always gauge their optimism and practice how to win their personal debates over negative thoughts. We can all do the same in our respective inner battles against negativity or negative thinking.

You can learn how to be optimistic, or cultivate optimism

Whenever you observe that you are worrying or thinking negatively about an issue, the first thing you have to realize is that negative or pessimistic thoughts are beginning to take control of your mind.

And if you hope to get any control over pessimistic thoughts, then you must admit that they are less helpful and less effective than optimistic thoughts or positive thinking.

Once you accept the power of thinking positively, then you are well on the way to developing the ability or faith to destroy the strongholds of pessimism or negative thinking.

Your pessimism carries a gift inside it because once you can win debates over pessimism or negative thoughts, then you automatically become a true victor in the real sense.

If we practice how to win the debate over negative thoughts, a lot of ideas will start to come into our minds and convince us why we don’t need to unconsciously follow the path of pessimism.

The following motivational articles provide very important insight on how to strengthen positive thinking:
